    Build a new Turbomotive!

I'd just like to throw in the suggestion of building a new 'Leader'. It would have to be oil-fired, hence no need for the central fireman's compartment, and have no side corridor meaning the boiler wouldn't be off centre which seemed to be a major failing.

trivia songs that mention trains/ railways

Just remembered this, which I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned before (unless it has and I've forgotten/missed it). Finchley Central by The New Vaudeville Band:- Finchley Central is two and sixpence From Golders Green on the Northern Line And on the platform, by the kiosk That's where you...

Nottingham Station: Access to platforms from footbridge

I think the 'old footbridge' referred to that was removed was the one which provided a right of way from Station Street to Queens Road with no access to the platforms. It was removed in the 1990s, and I would guess that, as said, it needed money spending on it which British Rail were not...

Nottingham Station: Access to platforms from footbridge

A bridge there would certainly be very handy now following the insertion of the new platform 4 a few years back and the increased use of platform 2 (the bay) compared to 'in my day' of 30 or so years ago when it was hardly ever used.

    Question about Reservation Displays

Or they are in the wrong coach. I would have politely asked them if they were sure they were in the right coach and asked if I could see their ticket to check for them.

Last stations to have a passenger loco to run around it's train

It's not in the current timetable but it did run for several years until at least fairly recently and did go down to Temple Meads before going back up to Cardiff arriving 21XX. It ran in the reverse direction departing Cardiff 07XX. Not sure if it called at Gloucester.

Last stations to have a passenger loco to run around it's train

I think I'm right in saying there have not been any direct York to Swansea services for many years! I don't believe there were many from 1991 onwards - perhaps just one particular working you're referring to? Generally speaking, Cardiff disappeared from the Cross-Country map in about 1990 when...

Last stations to have a passenger loco to run around it's train

That certainly is what happened at Nottingham on services from St Pancras to Sheffield and beyond. 1728769285 Surely they carried straight on at Gloucester to Cardiff? My recollection is of travelling that way a good few times - but may possibly have been earlier than 1991. Or were there...

    Guess the Station...

My son deserves the credit - he thought it looked like Milford Haven and recognised the number as one of the 150s that had been on loan to TFW from Northern. Try this one:

    GWR 800034 names puzzle?

It seems to be the case that the unit (i.e. 800034) is named after two people rather than each of the two vehicles being named after two people. It appears Great Western have several examples of this: https://www.gwr.com/about-gwr/our-named-trains
