Query about Stansted airport to Bristol Temple Meads?

I can't find any Advances that go any other way.

Query about Stansted airport to Bristol Temple Meads?

As you've discovered, getting through Stansted is hit-and-miss and an hour is not enough, but you actually have considerably more leeway in practice. The Stansted-London train is (I think) unreservable so all that could matter is the booked train out of Paddington. The journey planners tend to...

    Enforcement of journey break restrictions

This seems to be a customary interpretation rather than anything enshrined in formal regulation, right?

Court rules in favour of passenger using a permitted route

Because it was reported in the bastion of accuracy that is the Mail?

Hypothetical question regards stations without a tickets machine.

Or, as they do, write off the lost revenue. (Noting that this does not give other passengers carte blanche to decide that paying is optional).

    Leaving Home

Basis for your (confident and bluntly stated yet incorrect) assertion? I'll start the bidding at 20 years' experience in HE.

Well, quite. It's only DaveNewcastle who is Allowed to capitalise Random words in The middle of sentences When talking about the Law.

    Leaving Home

Does the first word after the comma mean "studying" or the town in Berkshire? :P (Hint: if it's the former, the word's usage is terribly pretentious and only really suitable for up-themselves individuals on University Challenge - anyone in the real world uses "studying")

Admin fees and penalty fares - Reversed!

Much like Northern's scheme, the "penalised" is at liberty to ignore the penalty and deal with the matter at court. It should of course be called a (reverse) Fixed Penalty scheme. Important to be terminologically precise :-)

    Eurostar to Amsterdam in 2016

How about positioning moves to Schipol airport, for cheaper flights ex-EU than ex-UK (possibly involving flying back to Heathrow first)?

    Passengers treated just like peasants...

It is a "business / cost decision" that prevents a punter from showing up at Falls of Cruachan at 7am on a Tuesday and buying a 14-day first class ALR from a TVM using a combination of cheques, RTVs and 5p pieces. Just sayin'.

Use of force by RPIs / RPOs

If it wasn't for rare occurrences there wouldn't be a forum - most people actually do go about their business on the railway with few problems. This at least has the feature of being an actual rare occurrence, as opposed to the dreamed-up ones that often end up being discussed.

First Capital connect intend to prosecute

The offence is still criminal whether it's recordable or not. Fair question to the OP. The letter will probably mention both, however.

    Passengers treated just like peasants...

Particularly annoying when you've been stood behind them in the queue for 15 minutes doing nothing, and then the fumbling only begins when they actually arrive at the driver's window... not even when the bus is approaching  Newport Transport is one exact-fare operator mentioned above...

First Capital connect intend to prosecute

Agreed. To my mind - although not all would agree by any means - "failing the attitude test" may fall into a similar category. Ticketing offences do not suddenly acquire greater seriousness through the attitude of the (quite possibly flustered) punter... save, perhaps, for the cases where intent...

Can you get a criminal record if its your first time and you're willing to pay

I think the standard advice is to let them make the running at this stage as regards when and if a specific settlement will be offered.

    One Journey - Two Tickets

Assuming "Travelcard" means a Day Travelcard, the answer is, I believe, no. If it were a season ticket that would be different.

Reducing fares legitimately - akin to tax avoidance?

To expect any entity to be anything less than maximally tax-efficient is to live in cloud cuckooland. Similarly to expect anyone to be less than maximally fare-efficient on the railways. Did I miss anything in the thread?

FGW kicked vulnerable passenger off train because card machine wasn't working

Feigning ignorance is fine when you have nothing else. Have a nice day. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Rubbish. The "problem" which you talk about is entirely arbitrary. It is "solved" in the overwhelming number of cases with "stop ****ing about with excuses and pay". You are...

FGW kicked vulnerable passenger off train because card machine wasn't working

Unfortunately you forfeit any right to the common sense or practicality end of the argument when you insist that the fitness for purpose of (unmanned) facilities is their ability to cope with ticketing issues of an arbitrarily obscure nature. That such a notion is merely a matter of software...
