Section 28.2, unable to start journey

Their agents on Twitter authorised a night in a hotel. Let us hope they don't renege on their deal. If the 2200 does run, I'm not sure standing for 4-5 hrs overnight on a full 80x would be satisfactory. I can imagine it being very heavily delayed en route --Edit-- And given LNER tweeted this 40...

Section 28.2, unable to start journey

Exactly this. Lumo are being a bit naughty in my opinion by saying "you can request a full refund" through the relevant channels, when should 28.2 apply, I think disrupted passengers are actually entitled to 1. Accommodation for the night 2. Travel the following day (or whenever lines reopen)...

Section 28.2, unable to start journey

Not sure if this is in the right section. Please do move it if it's not in the right place! I'm not clear if section 28.2 of thr NrCoT covers if one is unable to start one's journey. In addition are Lumo covered by the NRCoT? Thanks in advance!

    Go North East

My understanding is that that 9.5% has "harmonisation" strings attached (like removing paid rest breaks and allowances for extra travel to work time for those who were employrd to now-closed depots for some staff) meaning that for some this may be a per hour worked reduction in pay. It's also...

    December 2023 Timetable Change

Not sure where you see that. I see 4-5tph between Levenshulme and Manchester Piccadilly on 18/12, spread fairly evenly across the hour. I actually suspect the Sunday timetable is not completely uploaded yet given some odd gaps.

    December 2023 Timetable Change

Unfortunately Durham appears to be a big loser though, in most hours services from Newcastle will leave at 29, 35, 40 and 43 minutes past each hour, meaning 45 minute gaps every hour (including the peaks). In the current timetable, the Liverpool leaves around 06 so there's never more than a 30...

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

If you're just up for one day then the ticket machines sell Metro day tickets for the zones you want. If you are doing lots of travel including lots of bus and metro journeys then a Network One Day Rover will do Bus+Metro+Ferry (plus Sunderland to Blaydon on Northern) unlimited within Tyne and...

    Ticket office closures

For me, one of the biggest issues is that I don't believe ticket machines and apps have a duty of impartiality, wheras ticket offices do. Just the other week I was at a Southeastern station wanting to buy a ticket which wouldn't be valid until 1201. I couldn't buy that ticket from the machine...

    ECML major disruption (26/07)

While Stevenage to Cambridge now appears to have reopened, I can't see any signs of movement between Hitchin and Peterborough. Open Train Times still shows the up fast as blocked at Biggleswade

    Go North East

I agree, to an extent. Golden handshakes and unsociable hours payments might also help. People should be being paid at least a Living Wage, not barely above the legal minimum, but there are real challenges for operators, and this Government is too stupid or blinkered to recognise and...

    Go North East

If you read through this thread https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/bus-driver-shortages.222376/ You'll see that the bus operators are really stuck between a rock and a hard place. And with the barrage of complaints the social media teams will be presumably finding it hard to have time to post...

Who can spot something wrong in this Polish sleeper video?

Well, I'd say the vestibule shot of a Mk3 SLEP is very out of place in Krakow. I wouldn't be surprised to find that someone spliced this whole video together from other videos (perhaps not even theirs).

    Contra-Peak Flows out of London

I routinely travel contra-peak in SE London. There are a number of "satellite" centres like Bromley, Croydon etc. that probably generate similar levels of rush hour public transport custom as cities like Cardiff or Nottingham. Given these cities have cosy 3 or 4 car trains rather than the 8-12...

Are there any examples where an alternative route is taken if the service is delayed enough?

Thameslink Sevenoaks services are often diverted via Orpington if there are delays. This can recover 10-15 minutes.

    Thameslink Services/Timetable from May 20th 2018

Only on 12 May. Actually, I like the fact that Pancras means "all power" as the King's X St Pancras + Euston complex gives you direct access to most of the country plus continental Europe </aside>

    Thameslink Services/Timetable from May 20th 2018

Check real time trains. Horsham to Peterborough is definitely running today. Due to engineering work, the MML service is split Brighton to Pancakes and Pancakes High Level to Bedford.

Thameslink Skipping London Bridge at Night

As others have already said, there are a number of diversionary routes that the late trains are either timetabled to take, or may take depending on engineering works, and I suspect it was felt that rather than the confusing situation that one gets on Southeastern, where different timetables and...

A Leicester resident's experience of travelling with Northern for 1 week

I'm not sure I agree with the Knutsford to Manchester example. Knutsford to Manchester is 21 miles by rail, 19 by road. A weekly season is £45. Assuming 5 days per week travel, and taking the distance as 20 miles, the cost of the train works out as 22.5p per mile. Fuel costs are likely to be in...
