Great Northern and Thameslink May 18 service changes

Or it could be that St. Albans has a much higher proportion of London commuters. Without putting Hatfield down, it’s a very different demographic from St. Albans

[Trivia] Easiest railway line to reinstate that would not be required?

Probably a very short one. Bit of a silly question really.

Starting over: a redesigned UK rail network

In the situation given, I.e. no Railways at all, why would you start again. Surely it would be better to optimise use of the road network or find a new technology. Building heavy rail from scratch doesn’t make sense on a crowded 66 million country.

According to the EM trains press release, it will be going from 7 to 5 as two will be fast.

2018 infrastructure/rolling-stock investment - enough to silence the critics?

Thameslink commuters from Flitwick, Harlington, Leagrave and Harpenden aren’t going to be happy either losing 2 trains per hour in the rush hour.

    Are GTR finished?

Same today. Was just about to get train down to London. 4 out of 5 fast trains are cancelled. Think I will drive.

Trivia : Longest stretch of disused but largely/wholly intact track?

Is the line to Radstock still there. It was a couple of years ago.

Metro: Commuters furious after train driver misses scheduled stop at station

It can't be that rare. It's happened to me twice. Once at Effingham Junction and once at Harpenden

Continuing signal failures in Thameslink Core

Many short trains this morning. Should be fun.

Continuing signal failures in Thameslink Core

Having used THameslink for many a year, the last couple of months have been particularly bad (though not as bad as during last year's driver shortage). Farringdon is now an absolute nightmare, the platforms are too narrow and the access from platform to platform is awful. So god help us...
