RMT Industrial Action Update to members

Ah, so if you don't use those exact words, you haven't said something (or, as in most cases of this, implied it)? Is that the road we're going down? Because if that's the case, you didn't say this either. You can't have it both ways, sorry. The endemic use of "but that's for another...

RMT Industrial Action Update to members

Ah, the forum's favourite shut down. "This is off topic, so although I've said my piece, nobody else should". I wonder how many examples there are across the forums? Hundreds? Thousands? Always makes my teeth itch, that.

RMT Industrial Action Update to members

*chef's kiss* 1709329535 If the picket was civil and respectful, I'm not really sure why anyone who works for somebody else, no matter who the employer may be, would pass it and go in to work. Of course, I'm not of the opinion that someone paying me for MY labour is in some way someone I'm...

RMT Industrial Action Update to members

*open-mouthed stare* If this is what supposed railway enthusiasts think goes on at TOCs, it's no wonder the public at large are so easy to mislead. Staggering.

What? Disciplined for not working a rest day, which you’re not contracted to work?

RMT Industrial Action Update to members

They don't. Please stop trying to introduce things that don't exist into the discussion, it helps nobody and provides no constructive input, which I believe is a requirement for participation on this forum.

RMT Industrial Action Update to members

I see it hasn't taken long for the usual fabrication of things which exist only in a poster's mind to make it to the discussion. Every single time there's a thread about industrial action, this.

Trainee Infrastructure Monitoring Train Driver - Colas Rail

Wills is one of the IM drivers. He's telling you about THIS vacancy, not any previous ones. I'd advise you to heed his words, he DOES know more about this than you, no matter how much you want the converse to be the case.

ASLEF Strike LNER & Northern 1st March

"I have precisely zero involvement in this, however I haven't been sent specific details of this internal matter so it *must* therefore be illegal". I'm lost for words at the entitlement levels where some trainspotters very clearly think rail staff need to run the minutiae of their industrial...

    Aslef announce strike dates

In fact, I can't be bothered.

Can Train Drivers impose their own speed restrictions?

"Route knowledge, route knowledge, route knowledge". The three most important things for any driver. We've all got loads of signals where you can leave it ages, and probably just as many when you need to get it in good and early. Knowing those (especially in poor visibility) is what they pay us...

    Rail replacement coach crashes

There's another entrance about 25 yards to the right (as viewed looking toward the front), with a metal roller shutter type door. Or the two mentioned by Bletchleyite. In the pic below, the main entrance is in the third portal from the left of the station façade, obscured by the sign. The other...

    RMT strike referendum passed

I'm confident those asking actually know that, because they've been told several times before in recent months while similarly feigning ignorance in previous posts. I've no idea what their motivation is in trying to pretend otherwise, unless it is an attempt to antagonise those staff involved...

DB Cargo - Trainee Train Driver (2021/2022)

This simply isn't true. No lives are lost if the assessment is passed. Many people pass the assessment but don't achieve the 'enhanced' level set by a TOC/FOC who puts them through it, that is NOT a fail, nor is it a life lost.

Minimum Service Levels Bill receives Royal Assent

I did initially look at the map and wonder why Wales was expected to have no service at all, but surely if TfW are not in dispute, their services will simply operate in full if strikes are confined to onboard TOC staff and not signallers etc?

Avanti to Preston and middle of the night cab to Edinburgh

It was booked into Preston at 1952, I think, Could/would it not have been a Euston driver, who would then have a PNB and work one of the last services back to London? Pretty sure they don't sign north of Preston anyway?

Aslef strike around Tory conference dates

If this is the limit of your capabilities, I'd wager there's a lot of people in jobs with far less responsibility, and requiring far less training than train driving, of whom you're similarly envious.
