Rumour is 56098 is to leave Leicester on hire to Colas and run to Carlisle Yard to take over the 6C37 & 6J37 log runs to Chirk?
Can anyone confirm if it’s going and when it’ll take over please?

Apparently 049/098 have both failed tonight on 6J37 and are awaiting rescue from WCRC? 6C37 has been cancelled.

Originally it was 37516 & 37518 being sent by WCRC to rescue. 516 failed and was replaced with 47804. 804 wont take power so WCR now unable to assist. NR waiting for DB cargo to respond. FL, GBRf & DRS all unable to assist

Blimey! Let’s hope WC can either fix their locos or DB can help.

The railways really do feel like a comedic sitcom sometimes:lol:

Dare I ask if the age of these vehicles is a contributing factor in these events..?

The age mixed with the very heavy workload definitely makes it a bad mix.

Northern now reporting online a points failure at Blackburn, to make things even worse. Goodness knows how long 6J37 will be at Whalley for.

66430 has left Crewe as 1Z99, should hopefully be on the move in the next few hours!

So the lot ended up in Blackburn at 01:49, a staggering 557 minutes late...

So now there's two grids, logs and 66430 on Blackburn and no one knows what to do with em so best keep an eye out for any moves out of Blackburn!

66430 never made it. The 56s hauled themselves to Blackburn. The points failure was infact a run through meaning the DRS Cl66 would have had to attend via Preston.

Did the original driver remain with the train all that time or did Colas send a relief driver?

For anyone who's interested - it appears 098/049, who've been stuck in Blackburn since the incident, should be getting rescued today. 56105 should be working Warrington BQ to Blackburn and then I'm assuming will be hauling the full consist to Chirk.

Through Bamber Bridge 1615.Thnx to the Driver for loud triple blast.
Chatting to the Colas staff at Blackburn the original plan was to leave 098 in a siding at the back of the station, however problems with the ground frame meant all 3 grids departed on the front. Sincerely hope there is no more drama with this train.

I'm getting a sense of deja vu
Next we'll be hearing WCRC have been called to assist!
Apparently 049 and 098 being taken off at Chester, 105 should take the train forward solo and should also work the train to Carlisle

Makes sense tbf - single grid should be fine for the last leg and empties. Provided they can find a way to get more power for next week's runs (if they are planned to run)

Could something now be wrong with 105? Everything else seems to be working fine but the 0J37 seems to have been kept in that signal block for a ages now and 2C48 has been held at Bache for the last 20 mins

Never mind, 0J37 finally moved forward 1 block and 2C48 now managed to progress. Wonder what on earth happened

I believe 56105 has a TPWS fault, not sure how true that is but that just adds to the woes of this whole move if true.

Thanks for the information! That certainly has to be one of the biggest railway farce's of 2024 so far. I'll keep an eye out for movements out of Chester

The plan supposedly is 37405 to collect 56049 and 098 from Chester and take them to Colwick (Rectory Junction). Then 56094 and 37405 will take 098 back to Leicester once 049 has been dropped off.
