Could passenger services be extended beyond Alloa, towards Longannet or even Dunfermline?

https://www.networkrailmediacentre.co.uk/news/rail-works-to-inform-project-development-for-fife-and-clackmannanshire Apologies if this has been posted already, but I saw the above link on twitter, and thought it might be of interest.

Glasgow Airport Metro system gets council leader approval

I work in Renfrew, and so have on a few occasions caught the bus into Glasgow, and it's always been frustratingly slow.

Glasgow Queen Street refurbishment and remodelling

Here's the link to the ScotRail info about timetable changes: https://www.scotrail.co.uk/sites/default/files/assets/download_ct/20172_glasgow_queen_street_platforms_30jun-_28jul_2019.pdf In summary, for the period Sunday 30 June until Sunday 28 July: Mondays to Saturdays • Glasgow Queen Street...

5x Class 153 conversion to bike and baggage vans for Scotrail

That's what I meant, obviously a full upgrade isn't very likely, but I don't see why you'd need to lock the toilet out of action.

5x Class 153 conversion to bike and baggage vans for Scotrail

Grab handles and Braille signs shouldn't be that hard to fit so I'd be surprised if DDA compliance is a reason to lock out the toilets. Retention tanks are the more pressing issue I would assume.

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-46028596 I see the BBC have picked up on the RMT's complaints about the lack of retention tanks. Although they manage to imply that the unrefurbished HST are in fact partially refurbished.

    ScotRail's December 2018 timetable change

Are the timetables actually completed yet? I'm not famililar with the system but I have it in the back on my mind that at this stage of the year services would still be being finalised so there is a reasonable chance of an additional Dubland service being added before December. And Dunblane is...

Expansions for Scotland's rail network proposed

The area served by the Glasgow Central Railway is perfectly well served by the Subway, and re-opening it does nothing for relieving pressure on Queen Street and Central Stations. I prefer a solution based on a new tunnel under the city centre rather than re-opening old railways just because they...

Expansions for Scotland's rail network proposed

Depends on the cost I suppose, but there'll always be a need to terminate long distance trains from the north in the city centre.

Expansions for Scotland's rail network proposed

Build a tunnel underneath the city centre, linking services that currently run into Central and QS clears space at both termini. There would be a single underground station with pedestrian access to both of them to make changing trains easier. Much more sensible that rebuilding a station closed...

    Scottish Electrification updates & discussion

Does GRIP process definitely apply in Scotland? I thought we used STAG but perhaps the two are processes are not simply equivalent as I had thought.

    Trademarked Names for franchises?

Interesting, just had a wee look around that site. ScotRail trademarks are owned by the Scottish Government (or technically, the Scottish Ministers): https://trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmowner/page/search?id=77371&domain=1&app=0&mark=UK00002468429

5x Class 153 conversion to bike and baggage vans for Scotrail

The Scottish Government has changed the law (or possibly is in the process of changing the law, I'm not quite up to speed) to allow public sector bodies to bid for franshies in future. And CalMac already bid for franchises, that's exactly how the ferry contract is run. They had to be separated...

Expansions for Scotland's rail network proposed

I though it might be useful to list all the proposals that studies are being funded for (https://www.transport.gov.scot/news/local-rail-development-fund-set-to-award-grants-of-681k/): East Lothian Council – Haddington Fife Council – Cross Forth Travel Hitrans – HMNB Clyde Transport...

    A delay repay query

Did you not change trains in Taunton? Your original post said "We were told at Taunton that the brakes had failed and were forced to swap trains." In which case then the service did indeed terminate at Taunton, and you need to identify the train you transferred onto. But you don't really need to...

Incorrect Advice from Virgin Staff at Birmingham New Street

I have now had the following response from Virgin. Pretty positive from my point of view in that they (more or less) accept they were in the wrong here. "Thank you for your email which we received on 23 June 2018. Firstly, I am sorry to learn that your Cross Country service being late...
