    London - Scotland 07/10/23

Brill, thank you for all the replies. Looks as if I’ll be going with Avanti, I did look at the sleeper but the show doesn’t finish until 22.30 approx, it won’t leave that much time to get across London from the O2 to Euston in time for the sleeper.

    London - Scotland 07/10/23

Hi there, I’m at a show in London on the Friday night, need to get up to Edinburgh on the Saturday morning. I am struggling to find any services, from anywhere. LNER and Avanti showing nothing at all, likewise with Lumo. Only thing I’m picking up at the moment is Grand Central to...

Carmarthen to Aberystwyth "Better places in Wales for the money to be spent"

Can't ever see a light rail link to Porthcawl happening unfortunately, I was down at the old Nottage Halt not too long ago, the platform is in remarkably good condition. an ogmore vale service could be sorted by splitting a train at tondu. E.g. running a 4 car 150/158 to tondu then splitting on...

Carmarthen to Aberystwyth "Better places in Wales for the money to be spent"

I live locally in South Wales and I am in some local South Wales facebook railway groups. When the Carmarthen to Aberystwyth topic comes up, I consistently hear that the money could be spent better on other ideas in Wales. My idea's are all based in and around South Wales but I am excited to...

How would you Rate your Local Station?

My Local: Bridgend Setting: Right in the middle of town, loses points for the mammoth hill up to the station from the town though. 5-10 minute walk from bus station. would be much better if this could be made in to a transport interchange like Port Talbot down the line. 7/10 Architecture: Old...

Trivia: Platforms which have no trains scheduled to call there.

Bridgend Platform 3, I think it was intended to be used for Maesteg trains but they ended up extending them all to Cardiff Central anyway. Used for trains that are terminated early or trains with problems. Last time i seen it used was mid 2015 when there was a WCR Class 37 there for an hour...

    Video of trains at Porthcawl.

Start of this video shows trains running through the tunnel at Nottage into Porthcawl. Devastating shame the town has no railway anymore. town is crying out for a station during the summer months. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwXuS8nYERA

Could passenger services run along the Vale of Neath Again?

there would need to be bridge repairs and up to 2 miles of new (i guess?) track laid. but thats it. maybe signalling work to allow passenger traffic & about 2 miles of reinstated track to port tennant but where the old trackbed was is still all in tact.

Could passenger services run along the Vale of Neath Again?

I know that, but a lot of them places are very isolated if people don't drive. plus it gives people a direct route to Swansea from places to Pontypridd - Aberdare should they want them As i've seen stated on here a long time ago though. the way the roads were built in the area pretty much...

Could passenger services run along the Vale of Neath Again?

Apologies if this has been spoken about a bit before. But could passenger services ever run along the line again? I know its very vague. But should they reconnect the north section at Hirwaen and run the line alongside the road to reconnect with existing track in place as far as...
