While travelling abroad I saw tracks / rails having something connected to them between sleepers . Those bits appear to be in place for certain distance ( few hundred yards ) followed by “normal” looking rails / sleepers . Does it have anything to do with ETCS / ERTMS ?

Also, Shrub Hill is closed at around midnight so last train has no choice but terminate at Worcestershire Parkway ( arrival just after 1am) and run ECS to the sidings . As for other trains - Saturday only Great Malvern - Evesham, which then run back as ECS to Worcester Shrub Hill.

That is correct . From May TT Bristol won’t sign anything north of Gloucester ( to Worcester / Gt Malvern) and are loosing rest of North Cots line route knowledge. Only Worcester and Oxford will be going to Hereford and Gloucester drivers to Gt Malvern.

That or Worcester to Bristol runs.

There are few (2-3 I think) runs to Gt Malvern per day worked by Gloucester drivers so as such all of them should maintain route knowledge.

I wonder, when GWR gets 175’s running in Cornwall and move more Turbos to Bristol , whether Bristol - Worcester trains will be extended back to Gt Malvern.

I think if necessary , Plat 5 could accommodate Southbound trains too. Such train can be routed back towards Didcot via Down Oxford in Up direction and crossed over to Up Oxford at Hinksey . All that could be bit troublesome, considering other trains movements but doable since both lines are...

100% agree . £5k gross extra money ( probably £3k after tax) does not go very far if you burn more fuel driving to a depot further away. Not to mention being more tired .

LOL… Even if new entrants have different contract than existing staff - how long will it take for new starters to replace “old crew”. In addition to that - forget about ANY Sundays being worked by old staff from now till they all retire.

Ealing Bdw stop ( both ways) is to allow for the (GBRf) conducting driver to get on and off the trains as GWR drivers do not sign Euston.
