    Blackpool Trams News

Seems a long delay? There's hardly a mass of new route to learn. Just very disappointed I'm going to miss out when I stay for 5 days in late May.

    Blackpool Trams News

4 Weeks on Sunday until I'm there. Desperately hoping I'll get to ride a tram along Talbot Road!

    Supermarkets discussion

I happened to be in Morrisons this afternoon whilst amongst other stuff, fresh cream cakes were being marked down heavly, to 21p! They were being put in the reduced chilled section, and the assistant had a barrier around him. Although I was only looking, I was told that if I wanted anything, I'd...

    Flixbus Discussion

Reported in the Stoke Sentinel that they're starting a twice a day service from Hanley to Mancherster airport. I don't know if it's just going to be an extra stop on the Birmingham to Manchester airport service? Probably so.

Trivia: Bus routes that cannot use double decker vehicles

There were many routes in Stoke & North Staffordshire that could only operate single deckers, some years ago even the deckers had to be low roof varieties. For many years, there were no double deckers at all operated by First Potteries, it's only been in the last few years that they've made a...

    Blackpool Trams News

Read on the Gazette that the North Station hotel is due to open in the "next couple of months" and is taking bookings. So hopefully, it won't be too long now before the tram service can start.

What was your favourite bus type as a kid?

It was PMT Atlanteans for me. They didn't run on our local services, we had Leyland Titan front entrance on 1 route and a variety of AEC single deckers on the other. When we visited my Grandma or Auntie, I got to go on these "strange" and exotic buses, with strange seats! I was also very fond of...

    Xmas (Winter Festival) timetables 2023

First haven't run in the Potteries on Boxing Day for over 30 years, long before they were even First I think. They probably inherited a situation they were in full agreement with, running the minimum possible service is always their primary objective in this area.

    Xmas (Winter Festival) timetables 2023

As usual, First Potteries will operate no services on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New YearsDay.

    Shrinkflation - examples?

After decades with stable pack sizes of 80,160,240 etc. PG Tips tea bags are now in 210s not 240s. The Asda price was £5.50, so not much difference to the old price for 240. They just have us over a barrel.

    Supermarkets discussion

Yes, I spent a couple of minutes searching for a lettuce that was not frost damaged on Friday. On many of them, the edges of the leaves at the opening were still frozen solid. I assume they're not actully stored frozen, but are touching the side of a fridge which can sometimes freeze.

    Supermarkets discussion

Morrisons have started selling potatoes in non "see through" bags. You can't tell what the potatoes are like inside. I've just had to chuck about a 3rd of a bag away which were unusable. Sneaky move again to sell crap as good.

Trivia: Settlements that perhaps should be in a different local authority

That might have upset the good burghers of Stockport, Altrincham, Sale etc!

    Formula 1

Seems a bit suspicious that at a time when increasing numbers are getting fed-up with F1's predictable nature, suddenly, for no apparent reason, Red Bull are slower than a slow thing on slow day.

    Expenditure on Pensions

I suspect that Putin, China and their "friends" around the world already have a plan. Although it won't just be the numbers of young people reduced.

    Expenditure on Pensions

How about those people who are just worn out? You really can't expect many people doing heavy manual work to carry on much longer than the current age? I work in an office, and approaching my 66th & retirement next year, I am becoming increasingly tired & wrung out by the work. I wouldn't be...

    CrossCountry double booked seats

It happened to me a few years ago (pre-Covid), travelling from Stoke to Wolverhampton. The chap even showed me his reservation ticket with the same seat number as mine.

Trivia: Direct journeys you can make on a single bus that changes service en-route

Does the Arriva X64 from Hanley to Market Drayton still continue through to Shrewsbury?
