Class 58's in France cut up

Apologies if I'm a bit late and this has already been discussed but this video just popped up on YouTube of the stored class 58 locos in France. A very sad sight.

    GBRf Class 77

I couldn't see a thread for this already and appears to be a recent announcement. Looks like a few more European 66's and a new class 77 locomotive are on their way. https://news.railbusinessdaily.com/gb-railfreight-announces-new-10-year-locomotive-leasing-deal-with-akiem/

Applying for NR position via Indeed

Hi all, there is a position with Network Rail I want to apply for which is listed on Indeed but not on the Network Rail external careers page. When I try to apply via Indeed and log in to my existing NR account it doesn't recognize my details (which I know to be correct). Does anyone know if the...

    Can you identify this movement?

Can anyone shed any light on what this was? It made some noise as it passed my work but couldn't get a view of it. I'm guessing something off to be scrapped. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/K02086/2021-04-16/detailed

    Example SJT question discussion

I'm not sure if others would find this useful but like many others I have had to answer similar questions on applications which you never receive feedback on as to whether your answers were what they were looking for. The following is an example question taken from the OPC assessment website...

New services or diversions - Huntingdon

Over the last few days I've noticed a few intermodal services rumbling past where I work (just north of Huntingdon) on the east coast mainline. Just wondered if anyone knew if they were being temporarily diverted or if they were going to become a regular thing?

    Locomotive convoys

There are plenty of videos on Youtube of convoys of up to 12 class 66 locos and I wondered how braking worked in these situations. Do the dead locos still provide braking as wagons in a train would? Or do a few need to be left running to help out. Presumably the lead loco isn't left to slow down...

    What was this working...?

Can anyone shed any light on this working below? http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/O26273/2015/09/16/advanced I heard it go past but couldn't see it. I'll take a punt at it being a 73 as it originated at a GBRF yard... It certainly wasn't a 66.

    Class 33 on the move...

When I went out to grab some lunch earlier I noticed a low-loader with what I believe was a Class 33 locomotive on the back a little way up ahead. This was in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. I couldn't see the number but it was in BR blue livery and looked in pretty good condition. I'm guessing...

Class 70 through St Neots early a.m. 10/02/15

I wonder if someone could find out what this working was. I was woken around 0400-0500 on Tuesday morning by the distinctive rumble and whine of a class 70. I got up and looked out my bedroom window hoping to catch a glimpse even though it was dark but there was thick fog! Bloody typical as...

First class 70 through Huntingdon/St Neots?

Ok not sure if it would be the first but i've certainly never seen one before. Saying that I didn't actually see this one as the path had dropped just below where the line was visible but the deep rumble accompanied by a high pitch whining suggests it was a class 70. If anyone more...

Cambridge-St Ives branch in the late 80's/90's

Hi all, Bit of a long shot but I can find very little information on the above. I grew up not far from where the branch joined the main line at Chesterton sidings and have many very happy memories from my childhood of growing up in this area. One of the best is the sound and sight of a pair...
