Pictures of inside locos. Any good ones?

Horsepower is horsepower. If its a smaller engine, they rev higher in general. My motorbike & car have similar power, but the bike is obviously smaller! Boat engines chug for years, but rev very slow, and are very big to get the torque. But then it gets much reduced wear & tear.

You're UK rail boss. Next 20 years: money no object, planning laws relaxed. What would you do?

Probably as others have said, but i would increase capacity on busy routes & bottlenecks (eg Leeds station). Getting rid of duplicate routes dogma is a fallacy -the duplicate routes increase traffic flow/throughput -of which is the critical factor of success in a railway that is busy.

TfW to operate Class 37s on the Rhymney Line

If you have the 2nd set the same setup, it does.

TfW to operate Class 37s on the Rhymney Line

If you put 2 locos, one on each end, it is a DMU (diesel MULTIPLE unit) :D

Aire & Wharfe Valley Future Capacity Ideas

Put the signals much closer together to create a rolling domino signal (kinda like a mexican wave). Means you can then fit more trains in a section. And quadruple the track on busy sections (think a four lane motorway).

    Writing a CV

Write all the detail down, then pick out the most potent stuff & condense & condense it some more into minimum sentences, and bulletpoint them. Think of it like advertising a car, you want to know the vital statistics at a glance, and not sift through a wall of words.

Future of Diesel traction in the future and will unelectrified lines have another fuel type?

Could be. The problem though is the multibillions£££ to set it all up as electric.

Why aren't 66s used on test trains?

90mph 37s top trumps 66's 75mph RA5 37s top trumps 66's RA7 37s operating costs top trumps a 66s operating costs. Reliability issues are in tandem with maintenance regimes. Like your car, if you don't maintain it properly, it breaks down on you. The above sums up the whys & whatfors.

Future of Diesel traction in the future and will unelectrified lines have another fuel type?

The crux of the problem isnt really the overall efficiency though, more the calorific storage capability of it & the ease of use & existing infrastructure. I don't see battery or electric taking off on a total scale, as there isnt the Lithium to go around, nor the generating capacity to do so...

Future of Diesel traction in the future and will unelectrified lines have another fuel type?

Diesel is a just a medium for holding energy, and isone of the most efficient combustion engines around. A very practical & possible way forward in the future would be this ---->https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-diesel

Class 141s - Why Such A Premature Ejection From Service?

Definitely was. Think the 141s were mostly on the Calder/Selby routes at that time. Probably sent one in lieu of a usual 144/142.This would have been around Oct 1993.

Class 141s - Why Such A Premature Ejection From Service?

Certainly was a 'rolling' stock. I have vivid recollections of one in 1993 on the aire valley line at 70mph as a stood up vestibule passenger!

What effects do you think a potential hard brexit might have on UK railways?

I would say that they will be available still. If someone from say Brazil asked to buy a fleet of machines from an EU producer, the producer isnt going to decline the purchase because they are not an EU nation, will they?

What effects do you think a potential hard brexit might have on UK railways?

You seem rather agited over a non-issue whatever the why and what fors with the complicated machines side issue. As i've said, in any case brexit or no brexit, these machinesc wether complicated or simple will still be available, but the brexit option is more likely to introduce more...

What effects do you think a potential hard brexit might have on UK railways?

I work in the railway industry & get to speak to alot of people, who often air their views. One i regularly listen to was part of the team who designed the class 60 locomotive, his views on one occasion i remember on a LED headlight cluster, from a particular EU manufacturer, was one of shaking...

Doncaster could get additional platform in CP6. Any thoughts on what improvements could be made?

Doncaster used to have a second station about 200 yards south of the existing one at St James bridge, which used to be used for the races. Maybe have a look at that, for dedicated Sheffield bound services, with a connecting passageway between the two.

What effects do you think a potential hard brexit might have on UK railways?

In a market, demand is the lead & the supply follows on. If someone abstains supply for political or whatever reasons, a competitor pops up to replace them to meet the demand.
