    TFW Liverpool-Cardiff

If acquiring new paths is a problem, would it be workable to terminate the 1tp2h Birmingham Intl - Holyhead service at Chester (as it did under Central), and then transfer the Chester - Holyhead leg (or even Llandudno, swapping with Manchester) to the Liverpool-Chester service? They do tend to...

Merseytravel vs Merseyrail branding on the City Lines

Daysaver is the biggest con, covering only Serco-Abellio Merseyrail on the Wirral/Northern lines. But for five pence extra, the Merseytravel Saveaway covers all of that, plus the City Lines, rail services to Meol's Cop, Upton, Heswall, Rainford, ferries and all bus services in Merseyside...

Merseytravel vs Merseyrail branding on the City Lines

Merseytravel are progressively replacing the 'Merseytravel' brand with 'Metro'. This is a multimodal brand, which means 'Merseyrail' will apply to the concession only. 1703806922 Upton and Heswall are fully TfW branded, with the exception of a Merseytravel totem outside. Meols Cop is the same...

    Transport for Wales Class 230

Here we go, another thread I'm sure likely to become subsumed into bashing anything to do with Cymraeg, yet again

    Merseyrail hidden tunnel

No, the subway remained and is still there disused to this day. Lewis's closed in 2010 and the subway was functional until then. Look at the following post on Merseytart's blog, which has photos of the subway before closure. http://www.merseytart.com/2010/05/are-you-being-served-no.html?m=1

    Merseyrail hidden tunnel

Here are some photos from the abandoned Prohibition bar, in the basement of the Lyceum (behind the Chinese Restaurant), taken in 2015. This is the circular room marked 'booking hall' on the original plan. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/incoming/gallery/look-inside-grade-ii-listed-10593891

    Merseyrail Class 777 introduction updates

All trains now call at Green Lane and Bromborough Rake.

    Wrexham Central - why?

The passenger data for Central is misleading. Guards largely sell tickets to 'Wrexham General' only. There is a high level of fare evasion from Central, despite a ticket machine. For Bidston services, Central is absolutely busier than General platform 4.

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

    What dismissive and inflamatory piffle.

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Good, it should never be reversed. Politics or not, the erosion of Welsh language and culture threatens the very existence of what makes Wales different to anywhere else. The insecurities of a small minority of Telegraph-reading English folk are of minimal concern.

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

The 2012 announcement was made by the outgoing Welsh Secretary, the late Cheryl Gillan. I believe at that point she was already aware she was being shuffled out of a job.

Class 230 units training/introduction on the Borderlands line: updates

It's not about Welsh Govt 'giving up' - they are supportive of bringing in the 777s and would most likely contribute financially to such a project, having a working relationship with Merseytravel. I don't think we'll see anything which breaks up this service, I feel it's an 'all or nothing'...

Trivia: Over how many islands does the Network Rail system currently exist?

The Wirral is surrounded by the Mersey and Dee, and Liverpool Bay on three sides, and the Shropshire Union Canal on the south. Wouldn't say however that makes it an island!

Customer information during person under train incidents

About four years ago, one of my closest friends tragically died by suicide on the railway, at a young age and at what most people consider the peak of life. Before this happened, yes I found the phrasing of the delay excuse rather blunt, it often being heard used by automatic station announcers...

Are Transport for Wales rail accountable to anyone?

I don't know what implicit connotation you suggest from my post, but as somebody from Wrexham who lives locally, this is, always was and will remain so, a vital route in NE Wales and Merseyside. You are incorrect however in suggesting trains will be severed Ormskirk-style at Neston and Shotton...

Are Transport for Wales rail accountable to anyone?

So the passengers on the Wrexham-Bidston line are non existent or 'politically based'? A line which has suffered with chronic underinvestment for decades, yet is realistically is a diesel extremity of the Merseyrail network and intrinsic link between NE Wales and Merseyside? Sorry, but I think...

Are Transport for Wales rail accountable to anyone?

Operators cross international borders on the continent with little interference or problem. Some cross deep into the territory of another country. Westminster is a liability with anything outside of England.

Are Transport for Wales rail accountable to anyone?

Being from North Wales and also having lived in South Wales, I can truthfully attest that poverty and underinvestment is equally an issue there as it is up north. I agree with the prioritisation of public transport investments over road building schemes. I am happy that some of these were...
