    Azuma seating

Nor myself - looking through the hundreds of responses it’s blatantly clear to them that the seating is a huge issue on long journies!

    Azuma seating

LNER today emailed round a passenger survey forum asking for the good bits the bad bits and the one thing customers would like to change about the azuma fleet. Does this perhaps show some acknowledgment that improvements are required?

    ScotRail cancelling services July 2024

There’s also the impact on the already challenged tourism industry across Scotland - you’d think the scotgov would be trying as hard as possible to keep as many intercity and tourist routes going as possible during the key summer months to support this but it doesn’t seem so!

    ScotRail cancelling services July 2024

And the Scotgov heralded the return of Scotrail to public ownership as bringing massive improvements to service and reliability - are they able to let us know when to expect these? Since scotgov took things in house there’s been endless emergency timetables, poor union relations, service...

    ScotRail cancelling services July 2024

In which case, this makes the very limited frequency and DMU allocation to the intercity services out of Glasgow extremely ill thought out and dangerous for overcrowding

    ScotRail cancelling services July 2024

Appreciate that - though as it’s school holidays and tourist season, the general public won’t be too sympathetic to the finer details having reserved seats on high capacity services at high cost to end up standing on cramped DMU’s that aren’t fit for a 3 hour journey. Would a better option not...

    ScotRail cancelling services July 2024

Just checked RTT - very limited service Glasgow Aberdeen logged for Sunday with a lot of DMU use it seems. Poor show if there’s a 50% timetable reduction at the busiest time of the year (when tickets have been sold already for advance seats based on full service) that key Glasgow departures such...

    ScotRail cancelling services July 2024

It appears that the temporary timetables are only currently for Monday to Friday services - as it’s Thursday evening does that mean Scotrail are running a weekend service as timetabled? The communication seems very poor!

    ScotRail cancelling services July 2024

There’s 3 of the handful of services running 170 northbound and a few southbound also. RTT doesn’t say what’s running the 0944 south today (very busy service) so may have been a substitution there also. My point was that if an hourly service has suddenly become two hourly at a busy time of the...

    ScotRail cancelling services July 2024

Have there been changes to the inter7city diagrams or have the reductions been made by just removing entire diagrams from the daily allocation? Given that Glasgow-Aberdeen is seeing a near 50% reduction in service at a busy time of the year, it is quite appalling that some of the services each...

    Azuma seating

Shame but I expect you’re right. Although the standard class azuma seating cant last much longer without at least replacing the foam pads - most are worn flat by now

    Azuma seating

I note that LNER have been sending email surveys to help guide choices of seating for their fleet this week - does this mean they’re finally addressing the dismal azuma seating or is it just for the CAF order…anyone know?

    Azuma seating

The issue is that the direct route with no changes is quite important - both with ticket cost, journey time and reliability - scotrail is renowned for being unreliable with short notice cancellations or substituting a 2 car DMU with little luggage space in place of a 5 car HST short notice. LNER...

    Azuma seating

I was on an LNER azuma this weekend on the Aberdeen to London route and have to say I was shocked at how the already inadequate standard class seating has deteriorated. On my reserved seat, the scrap of foam on the seat base had sunken to being totally flat and there were screw heads sticking up...

    Scotrail HSTs Diagrams?

Does anyone know if there’s been changes (eg reductions) in HST diagrams with the recent timetable change? Glasgow to Aberdeen services were running a mostly HST led service until recently but the past while they are few and far between - today the majority of peak services are 2 and 3 car...

Scotrail HSTs - 4-5 years in

It’s being reported in the press today that unions are instructing drivers to boycott scotrail HST’s from August. I thought that scotrail had a working group with them that was progressing on addressing safety concerns?

Scotrail HSTs - 4-5 years in

Seemed to be a full HST service as planned between Edinburgh and Aberdeen today - perhaps this will be a better week for reliability. I note the bad press scotrail have been getting for running a short overcrowded DMU to Aberdeen after the rugby on Sunday night.

    ScotRail HST formations

Sounds like some hope of a working fleet again and cafebar return? It shows the wrong gossip that’s around!

Scotrail RMT strike action and possible temporary service cuts to a third of services

Yes - interesting that although they’re significantly short forming the majority of Aberdeen intercity services today, they only have two short-form alerts on the website and claim all others are running normally. I expect omitting vital information they hope keeps the press away from the issues
