There was an announcement the other day that they'll be used on the Ebbw line 'this Spring'. Hopefully that means they're not far off

The TfW press notice announcing the new service to/from Newport on the Ebbw lines mentions new trains being introduced from the spring. I assume these will be 197s too?

Do we know many 197s have been accepted in to service and how many more they're waiting for?

I agree. I used to prefer the red but the black have grown on me. I think they look very sleek. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though I guess

Are the problems more with the 67s than the MkIV? Just wondering if it could be solved by sourcing different locos?

I guess at the time they were desperate for any extra rolling stock they could get their hands on (including the 153s) to fill the gap until the new stock arrives?

They've just been authorised for public use so all runs will now be for driver training

008 is not out at the moment. Does that mean it may have finished it's testing and coming in to passenger use soon?

I think that means every 150 has now had it's PRM mods?

I'm assuming 4tph would mean two to Cardiff (and potentially beyond) and 2 to Newport (and potentially beyond)

Using myself as a case study (I live in Rogerstone) I can't see myself necessarily getting the train just to go in to Newport (although it would be nice to have the option). For me it's value is as an extra service to Cardiff (via Newport) but, more importantly, to have the option when...

The reason I think it'll go to Abergavenny is some Metro maps show a red line from Ebbw to Aber. On the other discussion, I'd get it in the future to get to Cardiff even if went to Newport first, rather than wait for the next direct to Cardiff. Usually it takes me less than 20 minutes from Pye...

I expect they'll go up to Abergavenny and back.
