Major incident on Chiltern line near Wembley 06/02/2022?

If I was a driver, and it happened to me, I'm not sure I could ever get back in the cab.

Major incident on Chiltern line near Wembley 06/02/2022?

The driver sounding upset would imply it was the train my family member is on, 8pm from Marylebone, which I assume is 1R60. Live arrivals for Leamingson shows the train as cancelled. What is likely to happen with the train? Will the passengers be taken off, or will they have to wait until the...

Oh no, that's horrible. Can I ask where you found that info?

Major incident on Chiltern line near Wembley 06/02/2022?

Been texting with a family member who is on an 8pm train out of Marylebone towards Leamington, the train has been held near Wembley. National Rail website says emergency services responding to an incident, and my family member reports the driver sounding upset, 6 ambulances, police vans...

What class of steam loco is this?

You edited while I was typing. I did mean left. Of course I recognise an A3! :)

What class of steam loco is this?

I think you're right. I skimmed lner.info looking at the B, C, and D class pics, but discounted the B16 because the pic didn't have outside valve gear. Reading further and googling, I realise now that some were rebuilt with outside valve gear, so I think this is a B16/2 (Gresley) or B16/3 (Thompson)

What class of steam loco is this?

The one on the left: https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/375/cpsprodpb/1415F/production/_110817228_ds140673-104350.png It looks Gresley with the curve in the running board just behind the cylinders. I thought it might be a D49 because it's driving the front coupled wheels, but the D49 has splashes...

    Mark 2 coach at Leamington

That was an interesting vid, thanks for posting it. Any idea how long it took from arriving at Leam to departing? And how many trains that were supposed to call at Leam couldn't because this train was occupying the platform?

    Mark 2 coach at Leamington

There is a mark 2 coach in old Virgin Trains livery parked at Leamington, it's been there for a few weeks. Anyone know why it's there?

The tightest connection you have ever made at a train station

About 5 seconds, and that is not an exaggeration. Birmingham New Street, transferring from a London Midland cross city line train onto an XC Voyager towards Reading. The LM train was very late arriving, and pulled up next to the XC - on the adjacent platform on the same platform island...

    Class 220/221 hybrid?

I was at Birmingham New Street a week or two ago, getting a Cross Country Voyager to Leamington. It was a 4-car class 220, but one of the carriages had the outside frame bogies of a 221 (so I assume it was a 221 carriage). Does anyone know how this 220/221 hybrid set came to be?

    Cross City leaf fall timetable

I get that leaf fall = lower adhesion = slower trains = less trains in schedule. But I do not get why they have also shortened some of the remaining trains from 6 coaches to 3 - if anything they should have lengthened the remaining trains to make up for the decreased frequency. I would not...

    XC delayed by Dorridge 12/10/11?

But a Voyager is faster than a freight train, even with the stops at Leamington and Banbury surely it shouldn't have been held up?

    XC delayed by Dorridge 12/10/11?

That makes sense (I assume the crew were too late arriving in Brum to catch the right train), but it doesn't explain why they also let the freight train overtake us.

    XC delayed by Dorridge 12/10/11?

The 16:33 XC from New Street to Southampton Central was delayed just outside Dorridge today for 25 minutes. We were told it was due to an emergency on a following train, which then overtook us - it was a Chiltern 168. We were then overtaken by a container freight hauled by a pair of 66s...

    New Street Redevelopment

Dismantlement of Stephenson tower is proceeding - it looks shorter every time I see it. The central section of the Pallasades closed a while ago, construction of the atrium is proceeding there out of sight. Platform 1 refurbishment completed end of last year (I think), though the false...

    New Chiltern Colours for class67

I was at Snow Hill yesterday at 5pm ish, and there was a 67 with a single Mainline business class coach on platform 3 - although they were not actually coupled together (close enough to be coupled though). Anyone know the story behind that?

    Oops wrong train

Something similar happened to me last year. I was at Birmingham New Street, to take the 16:33 XC (always a 220/221 Voyager) to Leamington Spa, which usually departs platform 10A. My train into New St. was running late, so I had seconds to sprint to 10A. It was 16:33 and there was an XC...

    Class 172 Production Progress

Went past Tyseley this morning, and London Midland's two 172's were coupled together. There was also a 170 parked very close, but I couldn't tell if it was coupled to the 172 or not.
