Virgin Trains (almost) Non stop service

That's not quite re the Leeds Executive / Yorkshire Pullman. At one time it was non stop Leeds to KX, then the Wakefield W stop was added in the mid 80s. I am unsure when Bradford figured. Though of course, in the early 1980s Bradford Int and Pudsey were served via the now closed Wortley...

    Trivia: One way only services?

But there are morning services from New Barnet etc to King's Cross. Think I counted six of them: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/advanced/NBA/2015/08/28/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt

Trivia: Services that reverse away from stations/platforms?

Castleford wouldn't be needed due to the altofts curve. Kirkgate p2 doesn't have access to the line towards Crofton, as someone else stated.

    1S30 and 1M99

But it appears on live deps just as any other 'splitting' service does, which is the strange bit.

    1S30 and 1M99

Noticed something interesting in realtime trains and other systems: 05:00 from Man Pic to Glasgow Central and Manchester Airport, dividing at Preston. Is this train actually billed as going to the airport (at Piccadilly I mean)? I realise that ticket acceptance (based on the through...

Trivia - Services which terminate short of a major town or city

I have been travelling from Leeds on the stopper to Garforth etc for many years, and I have _never_ seen the train on the Leeds destination screens displayed as Micklefield/Church Fenton/Ulleskelf. However, could you advise the time of day that you saw it? I wonder whether there are a couple...

    Where should XC serve?

Arguably yes, given the willingness of many families to catch a 6am flight/11pm arrival. At least on a train it's one seat for 6 hours where the child can sleep etc

    08s on the Mainline

    Now that is indeed good

If all XC services terminated at Newcastle/Berwick...

Disappointing that this two mile stretch didn't get done 25 years ago really - would have enabled the Metro Centre-Morpeth trains to go electric back then.

    08s on the Mainline

If anyone in the know hears that this is to run, I'd also like to get out to see it. Very happy memories of class 08s from my childhood. Indeed, one was the first thing I drove that wasn't a pushbike.

If all XC services terminated at Newcastle/Berwick...

And potentially act as the catalyst for housing development around those villages.

Special services for Yorkshire - Sunday 6th July

WYPTE has set a dedicated team up, which is also covering North Yorks. Should be planned very well

If all XC services terminated at Newcastle/Berwick...

Scotrail running an EMU to Newcastle, presumably calling at most stations viz: Edinburgh, Musselburgh, Drem, Dunbar, Berwick, Chathill, Alnmouth, Acklington, Widdrington, Pegswood, Morpeth, Cramlington, maybe Manors (for T&W Metro) and Newcastle Central, would be an exciting prospect indeed.

    Where should XC serve?

Extend the Cardiff-Nottingham trains to Newark Castle and Lincoln? XC to take over the whole of First TPE and the longer distance fast First Scotrail trains? The issue with the Norwich-Liverpool services is that they're so slow, so not really 'express' per se. Plus I don't think anyone...

Northern class 153,155,158 at Liverpool Lime street

I'm sure someone on here can produce a photo or link of a class 141 at victoria.

Northern class 153,155,158 at Liverpool Lime street

More than that. Those York/Selby-Bradford-Liverpool trains were booked 155 or 156 in the main, I believe. Remember this was when class 150s had disappeared from NL, and class 158s were used on TP. Presumably class 141s made the odd appearance?

    41001 to leave Neville Hill

Almost definitely. Do we know why she has left? Completion of work? Change of heart by EMT? Some work to be done in the NRM workshops?

New Sunday service for Ribble Valley Line

I've never done the Hellifield Clitheroe line. The 09:00 leeds-carlisle arrives HLD at 10:01, so should give a nice connection into this, giving an hour and a half in preston before going back the way i came. Thanks for the info
