Noticed something interesting in realtime trains and other systems:

05:00 from Man Pic to Glasgow Central and Manchester Airport, dividing at Preston.

Is this train actually billed as going to the airport (at Piccadilly I mean)?

I realise that ticket acceptance (based on the through train rule) is dictated by the printed public timetable and not websites, but thought this was interesting.

No it wont be, the detached unit forms another train (hence the new headcode) back to Manchester.

But it appears on live deps just as any other 'splitting' service does, which is the strange bit.

Just an error, or oddity, in the way the schedules are set up. Normally if a train divides from another it will continue as a through train, however they are still 2 different trains with 2 running IDs, headcodes, etc, so will not be the same train. They are just linked with a "splits" instruction that is not normally used for that sort of split.
