Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party.

Indeed, Liz Truss' speech in America was an eye opener for sure!

    Rugby Union

Wouldn't have put money on Ireland getting 5 tries in France, even if I'd have known France would be down to 14 for so long. Storming start for Scotland too.

Where have you been in the world?

Within Europe I have been to France, Spain (including some islands) Portugal, Italy (including Sicily), Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium and Norway. Been on railways in all of them too, even caught the train to most of them from the UK (only Norway...

Does time go by faster the more you age?

I had the exact same thing. Felt like years in lockdown, now I look back and time flew past. I think it was the fight to survive, and by survive I don't mean COVID, to get by day to day and manage. That effort made the year go by fast but each day go desperately slow.

    Bullying surrounding trainspotting

I was bullied at school and I purposely hid my love of all things transport for a number of years to reduce that bullying, in my late teens I came back to it once I was more confident and able to handle it. Since then I have never once hidden it and am openly passionate about it to anyone who...

Network Rail blasted over Dawlish sea wall death

I hope NR don't overreact to this. Once we sa we will install barriers they have to be to code, what happens if the sea wall can't take the bolts for the handrails drilled into it. Can open, worms everywhere.

A scam phone calls and emails discussion.

Very interesting thank you, needless to say the 12 hours and we will cancel your reservation with a phoney looking booking.com link was enough to put me off!

A scam phone calls and emails discussion.

New one on me this week, scam email received directly from a hotel through booking.com messaging! Apparently some hotels suffering hacks to their booking.com access.

    Brexit matters

This is the crux of it. Government's were happy to let them in when we needed cheap labour to prop up the economy but we're quite happy to throw them under the bus as an excuse, or for votes and personal political gain! We are out of the EU and yet loads of immigrants are still coming, so it...

Friends’ Matthew Perry has died at 54

Same here, I also have lost count long ago how many times I've watched it. Very sad news. The show brought me some stability and comfort through some uncomfortable times and for that I will be particularly grateful to the whole cast and production but particularly Perry.

    2023 Israel - Hamas war

That certainly to me doesn't feel cynical. Very difficult to know who to believe at this stage.

    “Better than average” Wetherspoons

The Listers Arms in Ilkley has always come across to me as a better quality Witherspoon's. In Leeds of the city centre ones I think the Cuthbert Broderick is the best in the city.

Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party.

Does this mean she thinks it will judge Boris and his allies kindly!

Why are certain people completely apathetic or opposed to the idea of tackling climate change?

I can't even get my work colleagues to turn their computer monitors off for the days on end they don't use them due to WFH so frankly don't know how anything else will change!

    Russia invades Ukraine

This counter offensive doesn't seem up to a right lot, I am concerned by how little they are gaining for a big outlay in resources that will then leave them vulnerable. Maybe we have reached the long term stalemate....

    Football

I fully predict we will lose to Barnsley at Wembley, at that point we may feel some embarrassment.

What kind of an enthusiast are you?

Love the scenery, landscapes and views from the train created by the railway. Particularly love a long journey with a window seat and a podcast and a view. Watching the world go by on a platform is also a good past time. Not interested in numbers or haulage etc. Volunteer on a heritage...

I love it that they can say they are balanced, with a straight face, with that as their line up

Bolsonaro supporters storm Brazilian Congress ('Capitol Riot II')

Fascinating really... This is now normal?

Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party.

Completely agree with you on dementia. Having watched the toll on the person, the family and friends, the stress etc. It's exactly how I would want to go as soon as I start forgetting who I am.
