    Disabled railcard question

A DSB railcard can only be obtained by post with written proof of disability. Renewals are only obtainable from the same office , but can be done by telephone and with a credit/debit card, as well as post. There is NO renewals etc at stations ( to the best of my knowledge) For more info...

    Disabled railcard question

My understanding is that a question along the lines of ' Do you need any assistance at all with your journey' is as far any questions of disabilty should go.

All Line Rover and Ticket Barriers

This is because every failure is logged and afterwards checked by IT personel to see if the programming needs changing. If you don't put it in and fail, then IT say 'No failures, No changes'. Nearly the only way to get them added is to let them fail regularly.

Boarding a train without a ticket - but with fair reason

Easy - Get the TM to tell people that seats are not for luggage. Get the luggage into the now ex-shop area which remained almost devoid of any. Remove or void the reserved seats that were not occupied, within minutes of departing Manchester Piccadilly. ( except obvoiously reserved seats...

Boarding a train without a ticket - but with fair reason

Send another letter , but this time to the Chief Executive, making it clear that the 'robotik' response is unaccepatble , and mark it personal, for his attention. Make sure that a copy is sent to the Railway Press, and a copy to your MP and another to Lord Adonis. That should make sure it at...

Buying a Y/P ticket for someone else

Sounds like more vouchers on the way. You can legally buy train tickets for other people, ( they are not transferable to anyone other than the person they were bought for - or something like that ) You couldn't legally really be expected to be in possession of a 'female' Y/P card and expect to...

LM: if you must have penalty fares, at least don't lie about them

Try that with a West Midlands Day Ranger or Daytripper , when the booking office is closed. The new ticket machines aren't interested , the old machines don't understand, the conductors ticket machine isn't programmed and most of the permit to travel fares machines have been ripped. I asked the...

    Cross Country Anytime Fares

There is a fares war between NX and XC and is caused by the ORCATs rules of how fares are divided up. Tickets marked XC are 100% revenue to XC and none to anyone else- spot the pattern. XC would rather have a 100% of a lower fare , than 25% or whatever of a higher fare..

    Day Ranger?

Sounds easy , until you get to a 'Coasts and Peaks' Rover, when its on the system as 'csts&pks' - just which bit of 'coasts and peaks will give that apart from 'c'...

    Coast and peaks

The West Midlands Day Ranger isn't valid on Virgin Trains services, but I don't remember seeing that on the last ticket I bought.. ' Valid as advertised' was quoted.

    Rover Tickets and barriers

I used Blackpool north barriers last year with a ticket from Preston, the one that included train fare and trams for the day. Not wanting to see it swallowed up by these Dalek mutations I showed it to the staff, who told me to try it in the machine . Amazingly it worked and gave me the ticket...

Can you buy West Midlands Day Rangers from London Midland ticket machines or online?

Don't think you can, and neither can you buy it off a train manager/conductor, their machines do not carry the info to issue it.....You can buy it at any station ticket office for up to a week or so in advance( the issuing machine puts a letter 'a' after the date..)

Have I been overcharged for my excess?

On the same theme, but slightly different track, can you 'excess' a rover/ranger ticket if you go slightly out of area, or is it just buy a cheap ticket for the bit that isn't covered. Again, same sort of idea, can you excess or upgrade a second class rover/ranger to first class for just one...

    Colours of tickets

    >>>>aren't the West Midlands day rangers still printed on either the old centro or NWM ones?<<< To the best of my knowledge, all tickets in West Midlands are now on common stock, except for the odd station with their purpley/blue 'parking' tickets, and if you can find them 'platform' tickets...
