I intended to film the train at South Ealing when passing as ecs (empty coaching stock - does the LU system use this term?) but that journey did not run.

The number one rule of LU heritage is to never believe the magazines. I’ve lost count of the number of times they’ve jumped the gun in announcing events that haven’t even reached any serious sort of planning...
Would the lack of a lift make that much difference? Advice is always not use lifts in the event of a fire, so the evacuation route would be via the spiral staircase in any case. The Aldwych story certainly has some basis to it. However last I knew it was still at the "aspiration" stage rather than definite. Realistically I don't see why it should be such a major problem, one consideration presumably being numbers of people versus how Aldwych station might be evacuated having to only rely on the spiral staircase.

It would be magnificent if it could happen, I'd definitely be up for a ride to Aldwych on vintage stock.
The market is there, look at the Post Office Rail.
