There's apparently going to be "test trains" during the closure this weekend but it's not specified if this means the 24 stock or something else such as the track recorderIs there any testing going on currently? Seems like a while since someone posted about it
Two 1960 Tube Stock motor cars sandwiching a 1973 Stock trailer car containing the track recording equipmentThanks both, what is the track recorder btw?
Sorry, 700 not 800.Is that based on anything in particular or is that a complete assumption?
LU (generally) use octal, so 777 is the highest possible number, excluding everything with 8s and 9s.Still, won't a 9 bit number only allow up to 511?
Nothing left on the north end of the Met - the last was an EPM at Ricky which died almost a decade ago.Not sure if there’s any program machines left on the line or train describers that rely on them, but if there’s honestly anywhere that does, it’s likely to be the Piccadilly or north end of the SSL.
The most common use of octal is in Unix-like file permissions.Wow! A real world example of octal in use.
Why do they need new cameras. Can't they use the old ones. Or does the old stock still use screens at the end of platforms? One look at Northfields station reveals the new CCTV cameras only just being hung on the platforms, so it will be a while before they can be used at this and multiple other stations.
I've noticed the new cameras at multiple stations across the network already, and this was a few months ago.It has not been outside Northfields for testing yet.

The 1973 Stock relies on mirrors/end-of platform based monitor boxes. Why do they need new cameras. Can't they use the old ones. Or does the old stock still use screens at the end of platforms?
This could indicate our first look at a delay to the introduction.Major projects
Piccadilly line upgrade
Following the arrival of the first new Piccadilly line train in October 2024, we met an important milestone on 30 March when it was moved from Ruislip to Northfield depot under its own power. The train will now undergo a further period of testing.
The new train will include double doors throughout, increased capacity, wheelchair bays and better visual displays for providing customer information. The improvements are being made as part of a wider upgrade, which will help improve accessibility, increase capacity and enhance the comfort of customer journeys across the line.
