Indeed, it can cause a major fire as happened in the Summit Tunnel in 1984.

Yes that was caused by extreme circumstances, but even without the fire, a seized axle can cause major damage to both wheel and rail.

Weirdly enough the thought just occurred to me as I was passing through Stafford about ten minutes ago and it appears that they have been moved!

90035 being reported at Crewe IEMD yesterday. Not sure where 325001 has gone, presumably to Crewe aswell?

If they have gone I can understand your duplicate as post being down to a high level of shock ......

I'll put it down to the latter as I hadn't touched so much as a drop of booze at the time.
