Ahh yes, you are correct, the painted image had it obscured by the tail light.
I have to say that I think the 37s look nicer like that than with split headcodes.

Am I mistaken or were some 37s originally built without the split panels? I don’t mind the split headcode, don’t get me wrong, but as headcode boxes are redundant these days I just find it a bit odd. Most enthusiasts that have been around for a while prefer the unmolested split headcode look as it's more original and authentic.
And anyone who has been around for a while ought really to be grateful that we still have Class 37s running on the mainline, regardless of peripheral items like headcode boxes. Most enthusiasts that have been around for a while prefer the unmolested split headcode look as it's more original and authentic.

Controversial view that. Peaks and 37s look the business with split headcodes. Has the full 70s nostalgia hitI have to say that I think the 37s look nicer like that than with split headcodes.
Why did they remove the split headcode boxes from 37 099? Maybe it's something to do with getting rid of the gangway doors at the same time to save weight.Controversial view that. Peaks and 37s look the business with split headcodes. Has the full 70s nostalgia hit
More to do with rusting. The headcode boxes are a known problem area for corrosion. Why did they remove the split headcode boxes from 37 099? Maybe it's something to do with getting rid of the gangway doors at the same time to save weight.
Thanks for the info, I had a feeling that was the case but wasn’t sure!Yes, plenty of 37s had centre headcode panels from new.
I agree - however, the 37s seem to have a massive following by railway enthusiasts (assume it’s the sound?) but I would take a 47 or 56 every day!If 37s are your bag then yes I agree. Not a huge fan myself but I certainly prefer them to modern junk like 66s.
People claimed 37099 went back with 116 and 421 on 0D13 on Friday. It was fake gen but people are definitely thinking it's coming soon.I’ve just been sent this by a friend (I’m not sure who took the photo but credits to them) and by the looks of it 37099 looks pretty much ready.

Picture was certainly on WNXX earlier.I’ve just been sent this by a friend (I’m not sure who took the photo but credits to them) and by the looks of it 37099 looks pretty much ready.
Derby RTC.Going back… where?
Highly doubtful, as that loco looks withdrawn. 37099 is awaiting a test run in Colas livery.I’m guessing this is 37099 next to 56096?

No...to the left of the 56 is the 37 that looks repainted. The one you're on about is 97301. And is that 56087 at the front...haven't seen that one for agesHighly doubtful, as that loco looks withdrawn. 37099 is awaiting a test run in Colas livery.
