....Or the curse of James Dean's Spyder.
For those who don't know the tale, James Dean died when the Porsche Spyder he was driving crashed in 1955 (one of only 90 in existance at the time). A car costumizer bought the wreck but whilst it was being unloaded at his garage it fell on a mechanic breaking both his legs.
Parts of the car were used in two other Spyders in a race at the Pamona fair grounds in 1956, both of the cars crashed, one killing the driver, the other driver survived with serious injuries. After the race a kid trying to steal the stearing wheel injured his arm.
Two tyres from Dean's Spyder were sold to a young man, whose car nearly crashed within a week, after the two tyres blew out simutaneously.
The wrecked car was loaned to California Highway Patrol to illustrate the importance of safety on the road. Within days the garage where the Spyder was housed burnt down, every car except the Spyder was destroyed.
When it finally went on display in Sacramento it fell off it's stand and broke a kids hip.
When the car customizer was transporting the wreck on the back of a flatbed truck, it was involved in another accident, the man was thrown from the cab and the Spyder landed on him, killing him.
In 1960, on it's way back from an exhibition in Miami the car and the truck hauling it disappeared, never to be seen again, alledgedly.
Co-incidence or curse?
