4L75 is reported to have been "on fire" and is currently in the Daventry area with fire brigade present.
Train services suspended Northampton to Rugby.

86609 and 86607 are the locos on the service with 607 being the one affected. The engines have been detached from the rest of the train.

66585 (off 4M94) on the way to assist and clear the line and drag the train to Bletchley.

Despite the saying, you can have smoke without fire.

Train just dragged through bletchley I think having dropped off firemen. Assuming any damage must have been on other side as both 86 looked fine

A reminder that in the year 2020 Freightliner is still hauling some trains with 54-year-old locos. In this case the traction had a combined age of 108!

What just like 87022 was ... until it was back out a month later? It’s an old electric, smoke isn’t a direct correlation with disaster. Yes if FL are binning soon then it might be game over, but it not deeming it fatal now is premature.

I'm sure FL 86501 also came back from the dead a couple of times after catching fire.
