Hi guys anyone recent or currently in York know what hotel they are using at The moment?
A variety, however Radisson Park Inn is one.Hi guys anyone recent or currently in York know what hotel they are using at The moment?
There are loads and unless you’re an internal candidate then it’s irrelevant to you.Any current NR Signallers on here that can tell us externallies what’s on the internal list at the moment?
Apply for as many as possible mate. It won't put HR off and the LOM can't see how many applications you have open!Hi there,
So I’ve read through the thread and have a question. I’ve applied for Pontrilas SB near Hereford as a total freshie (currently a bus driver), I’ve completed the assessment and passed and am now waiting to hear as closing date was only last Thursday.
Question is - as just a hopeful, should I just apply for the one position or apply for as many as are open and local enough or will this put HR off me at this stage?
Thanks in advance!

I live about 1hr 10mins from my furthest box, by car. It takes over 2 hours for me to go by train. I'd say no more than hour driving really... It's tough going after a week of nights and getting home safelyOkay then thanks! There’s another Hereford not long come up on there, how far would you all ultimately want to travel to work, ie the grade 7 Feltham I’m about an hour and a half train from but the pay grade from 2-7 is much different. Worth applying for or leaving?

Yes of course. They don't mind how you get to work, as long as you're on time. I think train is the best option as you can sleep, or unwind, and forgot about your shift. Best to switch off and relax on down time!Noted! The application says access to a vehicle is necessary which I do of course but presumably as long as there are trains in and out before 6am and in time to get there then that’s an option for travel in and using the 75% season discount too?

Hey everyone, I was just wondering what kinds of overtime is generally available. Is it just working your rest days or are there available hours before or after booked shifts? And can you go to other signal boxes or just your own?
Thanks

Hi, does anyone know how soon Upminster IECC will be migrating to Romford, I just saw a grade 7 position on the internal list and I’m wondering if it’s worth applying for
Regards shifts and planning ahead. All signallers have a base roster. However as a resident signaller you will have your actual booked shifts shown (including safety brief etc.) on the roster as well as your rest days/Sundays. There may be some differences in various areas, but the general cycle of a base roster is either 6 or 12 weeks, which then rotates over similar multiples. This means that arguably you could see your booked shifts for a considerable number of weeks.Hi thanks for this,
Yes I know the WH psb is 12 hours and that Sunday’s are outside, I searched the forum regarding this before. What I didn’t know if this changes as your a relief signaller, that was all.... if it stayed the same or weather you was on a different contract, ie filling gaps so therefore random hours as such...
And as you say 18% is a lot, hence why I was asking. As previously mentioned on this thread when relief signaller jobs were advertised it was usually 18% and 24% but these covered a range of boxes so wanted to just check....
Likewise with how far ahead you know your shifts, week, month etc
Yes I’ve applied for it already so fingers crossed, and I hope there will still be vacancies at Romford when Upminster closes, in any case I can always migrate to other boxes, I’m just so worried that there are so many signallers and they’re still hiring more to fill in positions of ppl that have migrated already, and there are only so many positions available in the ROC and IECC, what’s going to become of the remaining signallers? I smell redundancy pay in the not so distant future. It’s always worth applying, I’d probably migrate with it into Romford anyway - unless that’s not what you’ve want of course.

This is one of my absolute pet hates and roster clerks up and down the land get away with it time and time again. As per NRP and conditions of service if you are spare the published roster must show an actual turn of duty, that is to say a book on time and a book off time. Just putting “8 hours SPARE” or “12hrs SPARE” is not acceptable. If you are shown spare on your roster then you may be called into cover any shift available (within your competency / mileage etc.)
Ask the LOM. They'll be able to give you the latest update on possible resignalling funding/migration dates (as well as answering any other queries).
