Yes i got an invite for an interniew at the Basingstoke ROC in 1 week for a Grade 7 Position ( Feltham ASC ) ( it was external ) .

I applied in January the 20th for this offer but in the meantime I got and offer from York ( i have not accepted yet ) .

So i am trying to get info about this position ( pro , cons , stress , etc ) so i can compare it to the York ROC ( where i should eventually work ) .

I live in London so it's quite near .

I've got an interview too for Feltham next week so we may bump into each other.

York certainly is a much nicer place than Feltham and I have considered taking jobs there in the past - particular as I have family nearby but circumstances have changed and I'll be staying in the south for the time being!

Congratulations to everyone who managed to get an interview.

I don't suppose you guys (preferably external) have any suggestions for those wishing to apply ?

Not an expert but I am going to come back with a really awkward response... enough to answer the question (sorry) if it’s a general question about Network Rail or safety then I would suggest going until they tell you to stop! For the non-technical skills ensure that you follow the STAR technique and that should be ok, I am sure you if you are just short you will get a few probing questions to ensure you are hitting the right criteria. Good luck, when is your interview?
Thank you. That's very helpful

Agree with WoolyMammoth, I’ve recently been successful at interview stage and the guys interviewing were great, really helpful and probed a little if I was unsure about a question, or had maybe not given a full enough answer. Definitely use the STAR technique when answering and have a good 4-5 examples which you can tailor to different types of questions. My interview lasted about 45 mins -1hr. Best of luck!
Can I ask. ..did they ask a safety related question? I'm not sure what to prepare. I know the 10 lifesaving rules, the risk acronym, everyone home safe every day. Should I look at anything else?

Relocation is a big decision but as I say York is a great city. Whatever you decide to do, good luck.

I have just noticed that the Rugby future opportunities advert is no longer on the recruitment page, I'm pretty sure that the cut off date for applications was the 16th March though.

Is this likely just to be due to reaching the maximum number of applications or could it be due to them no longer looking to recruit for it just yet?

The 3 jobs showing now all have closing dates of 2018 and the salaries look like they are from then too...I think the NR computer is coming down with Covid-19

I am now able to log into my account, and it is showing in my jobs applied for.. Just not showing if I search 'signaller' on the recruitment website. Think they are just having site issues as previously mentioned

Grade 2 signaller role at Tondu SB (Bridgend area) has gone online today..

Does anybody know what roster they work there? And if there are any plans in place for the box to close in the coming years?

Yes, as you’d expect with the role being safety critical but don’t get majorly hung up on that, if you know what you’ve quoted you’ll be fine on that front. Good luck!

No idea of roster, suspect 8 & 12hrs, plans to close and transfer to Cardiff within 3 years.

Upto now existing staff have been given the option to move to Cardiff, remain at the old location (if the work was phased) or retire if they had enough time in.

Morning all

I've an interview next Weds for a G7 position at Feltham and I've a couple of questions that I know the gurus on here will be able to answer

1. What geographical area does Feltham cover
2. I believe the basic pay stated doesn't included Sundays/nights. Is that correct and what would the pay be with those added on and is there any London weighting allowance?
3. Is the pension offered the RPS and what are the contributions from employer/employee

Many thanks in advance

Hi all,

I recently had to redo my online assessments as the 12mth period lapsed - I previously passed it and achieved the benchmark score - so I'm a bit disappointed to have failed it 02nd time round. I think it was the numeracy test as I struggled.

Does anyone know if there is now an exclusion period before I can re-apply for another signaller position, I can't seem to find anything here on the forum and the rejection letter did not state anything about having to wait 3 or 6 mths or anything?

Also, does this test fail exclude me from applying from other ''non-signaller positions'' (eg Train Delay Attributor) as presumably Id have to re-do the test for everything else??

Thanks

Did the email say your scores would be held on file for twelve months? Easy way to find out is to apply for another job and see what happens.

No nothing like that. Just said I ...''did not meet the required benchmark score for this role and would not therefore be progressing my application''. I was thinking the same thing to be honest...

If it doesn’t mention anything about not being able to apply for other positions then it sounds like you are good to go!
