Hi all

I am a conductor on the heavy rail network and I was wondering:

I know that you need a car licence to drive a tram, but do you need bus? Also what rules do trams follow as again, they follow the highway code but do they have their own national rules or are they company specific.

Im just trying to find out what training is like at Croydon specifically as I am used to the national rail rulebook for ops.

Any info would be gratefully received!

You just need a car license for the on street running. I believe the rules are company specific since networks are self contained.

For Blackpool trams you also have to have a bus licence (PCV licence if that is what it is called). The tram drivers there do a certain amount of time on the tram then go to using a bus again.
