Anyone know why one section of the floor is raised?

It's raised over the bogies - the remaining floor height is lower than other trains in order to provide 'level boarding' i.e. so there is no step-up required from a normal/nominal height platform.

Why is that? Have I missed something?
Probably just contingency plans to enable them to work across the network if required.

Does allow for my earlier suggestion of using them on the Walton/Colchester Town and Harwich Town shuttle services to free up 720 diagrams to enable more 10 car diagrams on the mainline. After all perceived wisdom on here is that there are more 755's than are needed to run the services planned (as col-pbr can't go hourly), but not enough 720's for the number of 10 car services needed.

To make space for the bogies.......... They're low-floor articulated units, but unlike a tram or LRV with small wheels, the bogies have train wheels, so the floors need to be raised. Even more at the outer ends, 'cos the motor bogies have bigger wheels....

All this excitement about new flirts, I don't travel often but am actually hoping for 90 + mark 3s rather than the ratlers for my trip to Chelmsford and back, I'm following the Norwich in 90 on the way down so could be either.

Its funny how we all want the flirts to start and get trips on them but when you think about it, there's many years of them but probs only a year of 90s left

What is a ratler? How do you pronounce it?

Rattler? (Like a snake?)
Rate-ler? (As in a thing you might rate?)

Very confused pal!

I'd be really interested if they were trialed on the Southminster branch, they would fit in the Wickford bays without any problem, unlike the 5-car 720's.

Would be good to see them trilled on the Southminster branch. I understand the Branch has been discussed many times before on here. My money is on class 365s on the Southminster branch. However we will wait and see, as my guess, is just that.

No, it's not. The clapped out old junk has evaded it's trip to the razor blade factory for far too long.

All going a bit wrong this morning - hatful of cancellations out of Norwich including the usual FLIRT diagrams - problems at Crown Point?

Quite a few things happerning this morning, problems with getting trapped trains out of Crown Point and damage to overhead wires at Manningtree as well as similar issues on the West Anglia side of things.

Well I had a quick look around 410 on the 0940 Cambridge this morning - echoing what everyone else side, very, very smart looking machines and an unrecognisable passenger environment to a 15x.

what will become of the Kimberley Park sidings once AGA no longer need them? will the MNR just use them for their stock or will other mainline TOCs use them as storage too?

Will initially be a bit of a swap, with the sidings used for GA's legacy fleet. Those Mk3s might take a while to shift, where the rest of it has a home (mostly). After that I'm sure there'll be a demand for some storage for the next few years!

Unless I've missed some unexpected news while on holiday, I don't think it would remain your money for long if that's how you're betting.

317s, 321s or 379s are way ahead in the list.

The crew training programme for new stock is already a huge logistical challenge, without trying to train depots on any other fancy traction such as 365s. Likewise you wouldn't train Clacton, Southend and Ilford crews on 755s for the Walton, Harwich and Southminster branches unless all other options had been exhausted.

Still not permitted to use AC mode in passenger service.

Talk of another two DMU diagrams converting to 755s next week.

Is there some issue with AC mode or just more testing to work through do you know? Good to hear more diagrams converting soon, absolute step change in quality.
