It's going to be 29k from 31/5. Same as you'll get during training. It's about 27.5k until then.

There is plenty of opportunity to boost it with Rest Day Working plus there is a small attendance bonus every 8 weeks (if you've turned up obviously).

The expectation is it will go up again once all the depot drivers ring fenced for automatic promotion have moved on. No guarantee though.

I asked the doc on the day if I'd passed. They can't tell you outcome of drug and alcohol test but I knew I was ok on that front.

I had the same problem there a few weeks ago. It's nothing to worry about. He told me their machine was more likely to be the culprit and passed me fit. Know of several others who have had the same there so don't panic.

I understand 2 or 3 of those originally coming to Ilford next month have quit before they started. Fairly predictable given the way the jobs have been advertised. Depot driving is still a good way to get a foot in the door but definitely not worth turning down a Mainline driving job for.

Hi all, I’ve done the first 19 question assessment about three days ago. I still haven’t heard nothing back, is there anyway I can find out if I passed it? Or do I just continue to wait to hear from them? Thanks.

Lee, the questions are conducted by an external company who then pass on the results to GA. As you can imagine this process can take a from a few days to a few weeks with the many applicants that apply. You normally get sent a email advising you if you have been successful or not. Good luck

Hi Lee,
I'm currently at the assessment stage, can I ask what kind of assessments they are? e.g personality, numerical etc? Also do you know what score you got for your application? I was reading a thread from a few years ago and the people that got through to the assessment stage received much higher scores (in the 70's+) than what I received.

Hi All,

I have applied for the Abellio greater anglia trainee mainline driver vacancy, the salary is advertised at 23-29k. I have applied for the ilford and liverpool west stations, does anyone know how much the salary rises to after the 6 months training? Also how long do the shifts usually last as there isn't any information about this.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi, I have only done the one assessment so far as I’m still waiting to go to the next stage. The assessment is mainly about the actual job and how to deal with the daily challenges you will encounter. As for the scores I’m not sure myself how to see how I’ve done, or what the score percentage is meant to be for a pass. I would like to know that to.

The training is longer than 6 months, one year after qualifying (Liv St West only) you'll go up to full salary of circa £49k. West Anglia shifts range from 6-10hrs including earlies lates and nights.
