Advance tickets, train cancelled, next available?

My parents had advance singles booked for the 1006 Kings Cross - Lincoln today, which we noticed was cancelled, thankfully before they left home. The next direct service is the 1206.

However the LNER website suggests taking an alternative service to Newark and changing for road transport, which isn't ideal as they have heavy luggage. Would their tickets still be valid on the 1206 direct train given the cancellation?

Thanks for the advice - they made it safely to Lincoln on the 1206. Thankfully I'd had the foresight to make seat reservations for them, as it was only a 5 car set, and with the 1006 and 1406 departures cancelled it was apparently pretty packed on board.
