ATW don't usually split in Birmingham do they?

No they don't. Not completely sure what is happening on Sunday though. I think there is a split at International, due to engineering works, as the unit coming down from Chester will not make it in time to form a Cambrian working. So that terminates at New Street. The Previous service from the Cambrian would take all four cars to International and split first 2 cars to Holyhead, with the remaining two later going back to New Street in order to form a 4 car Cambrian service with the Unit from Holyhead. No idea where the unit terminating at New Street is going to be kept between diagrams

Someone who works that route will know a lot more than me. Maybe The Planner knows whats going on

ATW will need an extra unit to run Chester-Wrexham shuttles during the Cefn Mawr works, while the normal trains run via Crewe.
Maybe this is the reason for the turn-rounds at New St.

Turns out it was a clerical error, both 1G31 and 1D17 are now showing as running to/from International.

Correct ATW are running a shuttle between Wrexham & Chester 18 hours a day due to high numbers that board/arrive at Wrexham, plus bus passengers between Shrewsbury & Ruabon that will board the shuttle at Wrexham.

Any idea if it's going to be a 158 or a 175 on the shuttle? Or are we likely to see something a bit more exotic like a 150 ?

I understand it will be a variety(whats spare), certainly a 150 will be used (both Bidston sets stabled at Chester during the engineering),one of these sets will be used when it comes off duty in the early evening(Tue/Sat) for the shuttle, looks very much 150 all day Sunday & Monday only one set required on both days for Bidston.

ATW usually have "pick out of the sky" 150s available for additional work. Also Maintenance schedules can be worked round to provide additional capacity.
An additional 158 has been found here (probably come from the South and replaced by 150 but not sure of this). The 158s involve the Holyhead to Birmingham Ints, the normal working at Shrewsbury for those who may not know:-
Birmingham Int to Holyhead arrive Shrewsbury in Platform 4 as 2x158 (3 on one service) and detach the rear unit which remains in Platform. Some minutes later Holyhead to Birmingham Int (1x158) arrives and attaches to the Unit left in Platform 4 to go forward to Birmingham as 2x158. However, during the occupation the train to Holyhead leaves a couple of minutes later and the train from Holyhead arrives a couple of minutes earlier which means the normal move cannot take place due to the time factor. So, our additional 158 works the Shrewsbury to Crewe locals (vice 153) and the timings of these fit in just nicely.
Train from Crewe arrives XX11 in Platform 7 and the Holyhead to Birmingham arrives and attaches to the rear of it departing from Platform 7 at XX33 as usual. The Birmingham Int to Holyhead kicks off the ear unit as usual in Platform 4 and then works the 14 33 local back to Crewe.
