Theyre redoing it? When? Might have to go for a weekend in Glasgow then...
Yes:

Thanks for the update
There are signalling issues at Camden causing more than 2 min delay to northbound fast line trains. The Carstairs TSR in 2021 cost 1.5 mins and was a factor in the record attempt being missed by 21 seconds. So a no brainer to postpone until the Camden issue is sorted - which seems to be eluding NR at the moment.

Very true, though September seems a potentially bad choice if true - isn't it getting on for leaf fall season?

Summer will bring risk of heat related temperatures and sagging OLE. There is no perfect date. But until Camden is sorted - been an issue for 5 weeks now - then it seems they don't expect it to be resolved anytime soon. September will be here before we know it.

Fair enough, I take the point about 'no perfect date' - ultimately even with the best planning anything could still spoil a run.

No problem. Just noticed it was announced by The Scotsman. Couldn’t find any other mention of it on this Forum surprisingly.
Which shows what a pointless PR stunt it is. Did anybody even know it was scheduled for next Tuesday?

That's not how PR stunts work. You tip off the media in the hope they report what you are going to do, the public takes an interest and the media have cameras set up to capture the stunt.

It doesn't have the same effect if you do it on the quiet and only tell people afterwards, assuming it was a success, and attach a link to the schedule on realtimetrains to show you did it.
