Does anybody know that if I apply for trainee driver job for West Midlands trains, does it affect me being in talent pool for Avanti?

They said if you do psychometric test with another toc it supersedes your results and you will no longer be considered.
If you hold a CBI pass for Avanti, doing an MMI for West Midlands will overwrite your CBI and you wouldn't be able to proceed with Avanti unless you did (and passed!) another CBI

Ok thanks for the information, I think I'll withdraw my application for West Midland Trains.

How is it that Avanti remained the only one doing the CBI? And is there a plan that they will they change to MMI? I understood reading here that the differences are small between the two.
Polmadie applicant awaiting a DMI. Last correspondence 5/10/24 stated thanks for patience, prioritising Polmadie (upcoming weeks!).

We will continue to arrange interviews by depot requirements and will be in touch with you once we have availability for interviews.
Please note, if you are successful at this stage of the process, you will be in the talent pool for the duration of the remainder of the validity of your OPC tests. Offers from the talent pool are made taking into consideration your test expiry date (provided by the OPC), interview scores, notice period, and any prebooked holidays you have informed us about.
Please keep a look out for your interview invitation, if you can't make the date allocated to you, let us know and we will work with you to accommodate another date.
Question.. What is the validity period of the OPC tests?

It varies by TOC, but in the case of Avanti a pass is valid for five years.

Does anyone know of anyone whose 5 year talent bank period with Avanti has lapsed before they were ever offered a post?
I’m happy to wait for mine if the chances of getting a position at the end is relatively good. But 2 years have past now and I feel being offered a position is no closer. So i am wondering what the likelihood is?

Ok thanks mate. It’s good to know they are splitting it up between different depots and giving everyone a chance. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for this year

Yeah I got the same email for Polmadie.
Hopefully we see a bit of movement on it soon then. Was good to at least get some sort of update/acknowledgement.

Is anyone still waiting to take the tests from the Feb 2023 round? I applied for Manchester. I did the first sets of online tests and I’ve heard nothing since October 2023 when I got an email telling me recruitment was paused. I’ve emailed both Avanti and OPC a few times and no one has got back to me. I just want to find out if I’m in or out, is that too much to ask?
Edit - I finally got an answer and they closed recruitment a year ago and I should have had an email confirming this. I didn't obviously, but just thought I'd post here in case anyone else was still waiting for news. Feel like a right clown.

Still nothing else for me yet either. Last update I had was around 7/8 weeks ago saying they’ll be in touch in when they have a date, but might not be for another few months.

Hi all, has anyone managed to get on as a trainee yet that passed all the tests in 2023? Would you care to share if there are many other trainees on the course with you?

On a course now 2023 applicant course has 10 trainees from all depots including Manchester. There is 5 courses a year i think another 1 or 2 this year so you will like get on soon. Hope that helps

I appreciate your reply mate thanks. Can I ask what depot you will be on? And were places distributed evenly from different areas?
when were you told that you would be on a course this year? It’s been a long wait so far in the talent bank I’m really hoping I get lucky this summer!

Got told in December for march start and yes i would say pretty evenly except Manchester they only have one others are 2 other courses may be slightly more or less
