The route on that trip was quite direct:

Nottingham-Alfreton-Sheffield-Pontefract-Church Fenton-York-Newcastle -Edinburgh, returning as outward.

In contrast I was on a Nottingham-Edinburgh Merrymaker two years later in 1980, and it went via Leeds-Settle-Carlisle-Carstairs-Edinburgh returning as outbound.

11th June 2022 (aka yesterday)

I enjoyed a Saturday taking in the KWVR Diesel Gala. A Gronk, a bomb, two Cromptons, a Syphon, a Hoover and a Cat for haulage made for a varied day. Plenty of folk about, so hopefully a highly profitable event for the railway. Plenty more there today scratching the Fugly, looking at the webcams.
