90047 was my last one for haulage. It was certainly regarded as the rarest on passenger work for a number of years.

When Anglia used Freightliner locos during 2002-2003, 90047 was out of service with fire damage so was not used then. I also missed 90044 & 90045 back then but got them later.

As I was thinking it was about time to go home, word reached me that the 1210 Bristol – Newcastle had been stood at Doncaster station for a couple of hours, with 478xx having been removed to Carr Loco because of a defective fuel pump. Seemingly it was no short job to repair the 47, so they turned out 56115 to work forward to Newcastle. We just made it by the skin of our teeth!

Then straight back …

Terminated at York as 56115 was low on fuel. Buses forward to Bristol. No thanks!

90047 was my last 90 as well, scored 18.01.2011, was working in Norwich and drove to Coventry for it to Wolverhampton on a £2 evening return!

Previously my 49th 90 was 90049 scored in Anglia in May 2003, so took 7.5 years wait to get all 50.

Correct. A route-learning trip for St Leonards (ex-diesel) drivers, who were learning the routes to Eastbourne, Brighton and Victoria following electrification of their direct route to Tonbridge. The rest of the week we had 73 004 (See subsequent posts on this thread).

I believe they got not very far, possibly Basford Hall, and then pushed the while lot back into the station and handed over to the 47. Was not on board at the time and viewed this move from the platform. So clearly some sort of problem!
