Very true, I do sometimes wonder if they hire their reporters from socialist parties, some of the bias is both annoying and obvious.

This'll be the same BBC that had more than one run in with Labour during their last term in office would it? But if you can supply some examples of this reporting bias that is 'obvious', I'd be grateful. Can't see any that is obvious to me.

The BBC gets accused of political bias no matter who is in power. And what a silly idea to wonder if they hire reporters from socialist parties?

Questionable legality if there was a hiring policy based on political affiliation. Do you not think that perhaps their journalists are hired on merit?

That merit may be set a little to low though for staff employed on the BBC News web pages based on the errors highlighted here.

Well, I do believe they referred to the rioters over summer as 'protesters' for quite a while, certainly before it got quite out of hand.

My comment about their hiring was tongue-in-cheek, but at times they do make me wonder.

Try listening/watching some other 'national broadcasters', you'll be pleasantly surprised by the BBC, you really will. Compare them to the American news corporations, only then do you realise the level of quality in general at the BBC.

And no, I don't work for them.....

And that's evidence of Party Political bias is it? Evidence of political correctness maybe, but not partisan reporting favouring one ideology.

Does show them to be slightly Leftist though.

Referring to some rioters as protestors does not in any way make them Leftist! In the same vein you could argue that referring to them as rioters rather than protesters makes them slightly Rightist. Perhaps they should have referred to them as "young people with issues around stealing"?

I will admit that probably wasn't the best example, and I CBA to take the responsibility for dragging a whole thread OT, so can we leave it there and I'll keep my anti-BBC opinions to myself until I find some better evidence? Cheers ;)

I'd say initial caution from the BBC more like. And I don't quite follow how failing to initially refer to those involved in the Summer disturbances as 'rioters' is evidence of a Leftist viewpoint.

'Riot' has very precise legal definitions. That's why so few of those prosecuted following the disturbances earlier this year have been charged with the offence of 'rioting'.

EDIT: I too will apologise for contributing to the thread creep. I'll try and keep my lefty viewpoints to more appropriate topics. ;)

Left, right or straight down the middle, nothing excuses the poor research that goes in to some items on the BBC News website.

...because they didn't realise that the Class 150s weren't 150 trains?

Over-reaction?

This was a general rant about the BBC as a whole rather than one, frankly, insignificant story.

I want a good open, accurate, honest BBC we can be proud of. Its such as shame its news seems to be nothing more than an offshoot of the Guardian or Labour Party press office when it should not be politicised.

The reason for this is that they are not state owned. As such they reflect the views of their owners no matter what they may be.

Much as I criticise the BBC it is leagues better than the likes of Fox News.
