A friend is going from Bedford to Prestatyn he has a PRIV.

Ideally he wanted to go via Bletchley and change there , however there seems to be no ticket for that. Neither via Leicester & Nuneaton.

Surely, EMT's Route Chesterfield ticket should say Route "Not London".

Here is the vast amount of different SORs I've looked up....

Bedford - Prestatyn Route Chesterffield £22.65; London £74.50
Bletchley - Prestatyn £47.50
Biggleswade - Prestatyn £25.40
Wellingborough - Prestatyn £20.90
Bedford - Wellingboro £2.45
Flitwick - Prestatyn Not London £23.50; London £74.00
Harpenden - Prestatyn Not London £55.75; London £69.25

I concurred that the Flitwick ticket was the easiest to buy, but it would be easy to get screwed for another £20- £50....
Certainly makes Avantix worth a tenner!

I'm not exactly sure about what route one takes when travelling from Bedford to Prestatyn, I'm presuming he wants to go Bedford > Bletchley > Milton Keynes > Crewe > Chester > Prestatyn?

Also, is your friend happy to be tied to be travelling after 09.00 (weekdays only) between Rugby and Crewe?

If he is returning the same day, then:
Bedford (BDM) - Rugby (RUG): £4.00 SDR Route Not London
West Midlands Day Ranger: £5.00
Crewe (CRE) - Prestatyn (PRT): £4.60 SDR
Total = £13.60

If he is returning a different day, then:
BDM - RUG: £4.60 SOR Route Not London
West Midlands Day Ranger x2: £10.00 OR RUG - CRE: £9.75 Route LDN MIDLAND ONLY
CRE - PRT x2: £9.10
Total = £23.70 (so for a period return the Flitwick ticket is cheaper unless they are happy to tie themselves to LM, which for 5p saving isn't worth it)

Cheers Mojo! He is returning on another day though.

What I cannot understand is why the Flitwick ticket is Route Not London and the Bedford one is Route Chesterfield, which is miles off route as you could go Bedford - Derby - Crewe anyway...
