I like the 323. It can serve as a reminder to leg it up the ramp to the platform!

The 323 definitely has the most comical sound ever.

I absolutely love the engine sound on class 104s.

Does anyone else think 350s and other desiros sound like the alien spaceships from the 1950s version of War of the Worlds?

The 350s etc drive systems do sound strange, but there is a reason for it...

It's to do with cooling and RFI suppression if you're interested...

365s do have a very musical sound. Much more refined than the likes of 317s that just scream

Have to say, Alstom's IBGT drives sound much more boring that Siemens', if I'm thinking right Hitachi's IGBT arrays sound boring too...

They use a similar switching scheme as the 323, Networkers and 1996 stock, but make use of IGBTs rather than GTOs, so switch at a higher frequency, since IGBTs are a lot easyer to turn off then GTOs.

A 180 at full chat with turbos screaming away or the low purr when cruising. I quite like the sound of a 390 when pulling away too. For a DEMU it has to be a Thumper.
