In Lancashire as of last week no location where bitecards are valid were swiping them as machines havent been received yet, however I still show it as per normal and still receive the discounts, the Staff at UpperCrust in Preston are really awesome

Upper Crust at London Bridge is the only place I have used my new card (platforms 5/6), and had no problem.

Ah i used the one down on the Tooley Street entrance.

I've used my new style card without issues at both Bristol Temple Meads Upper Crust, and Didcot Parkway Pumpkin.

Pardon my ignorance, but what are Bite Cards. Out here in deepest Bedfordshire we don't have such luxuries as BK or UC only a Coffee Stall on my local station and nothing at on the next station.

I've used my new one at New St and Wolves and each time they've just pressed the button, never had it swiped. Didn't realise they were supposed to swipe it.

I am not sure about the paper bitecards at moment but I have used my niew plastic bitecard, as they are not swiping them I just show it to them ( i take it out of my wallet incase they have the new swipe system installed)

I've always been able to get the 20% off of meal deals. Would be silly for them not to, as it's the most popular thing to get. Unless BITE have changed the rules - could it be that this transition to swipeable cards is so that the retailers can apply discounts selectively, rather than just giving a blanket 20% discount off everything?

It isn't a straight up 20% discount now - it'll only apply on their tills to relevant items. UpperCrust had a half price promo on their pizza baguettes last December, and the discount would apply for a coffee but not for the baguette (same receipt). Similarly King Deals at BK originally didn't work with BiTE discount.

I used to have one years ago , i may get a new one . Ive not had a BK from a station for years as i find the high street ones far better.

A struggle to eat a large BK but makes you full unlike Mcds.

I can eat two a day easily, and did so on occasions when I used to work at Pizza Hut. More often it was only one mind, but I did so at least 3 times, usually 4, a week. Bearing in mind though that I'd usually have such a meal after several hours of not eating, and I mean several like 7 or more.

Yeah, thought so. I always thought the original system was a bit too good to be true - 20% off, just for flashing a card that anyone can get for free, which doesn't track your purchases or sell your details to marketers... I'm just surprised it lasted as long as it did before some bright spark said "Wait, we could do a lot more with this card..."

That said, I flashed my new card at Waterloo BK and the attendant just keyed in the usual 20% off - so either they don't have the software yet to swipe them, or their staff don't all yet know the new score...

Please bear in mind folks at Preston two weeks ago the staff didnt even realise what the new bitecard looked like, the new tills that enable staff to swipe the bitecards havent been placed yet, so staff at all bitecard outlets may not know what the new bitecard looks like. I always take the new bitecard out my wallet and hand it to them incase the swipe system is in place thus if it isnt they still should realise its a bitecard and add the discount accordingly

Thanks for suggestion re Google. Never occurred to me that this card existed until I read this post. Although I have Priv travel facility I don't often travel to stations that have catering facilities. However when I do I tend to steer clear of Catering outlets.

Bite website makes out the old ones are still valid but not for long. As the origional reason for this thread GLC BK are in my experience terminally useless at doing anything correctly. The one at EDB As pointed out are great and when the manager asked me the other day if I'd ordered my replacement card yet and I told her I had she said that they would always give me discount anyway!

New tills in and working at the pub at EDB and I think maybe upper crust too! Aberdeen pumpkin being snooty and not taking old cards, Inverness are accepting them though.

youde be cheeper with your bite card I believe? As a former employee I seam to recall ASDA Discount for staff only being 10 percent.

It was a Friday after work and thought that I would pop in for a cheeky can or 2 of Carling in one of the Pumpkin chains, but apparently you can't use the bite card on alcohol......

Now I've had this problem before where some stations will accept the bite card and others won't so sent SSP an email asking for clarification. The clarification I got was as long as the item you are purchasing isn't part of a promotion (i.e. 2 packet of crisps for £1.20) then the Bite card can be used, therefore it can be used on alcohol unless that is on a promotion.
