Any guesses for operator? Assume GBRf or DBC, 73s perhaps. 69s too much to hope for?

Interesting provisional routing, cliftonville to Newhaven then Brighton then Eastbourne,

Guessing it either reverses at Preston park then goes Brighton Newhaven Brighton, or it does the plumpton line outward .

None the less a day of chasing for me
If it transpires of course, with all Resource issues operators are having wouldn’t be surprised if it is canned until later in year.

also would of thought it would be advertised and open for bookings by now ?

Admit will be a nice tour if it does come off ….

My guess would be GBRF with 73's and possibly 20's. Could be a 66 though :D

Looks an interesting tour, but I doubt I will make that one due to the travel time to the joining stations.

I would agree GBRF is likely. But maybe this one for TNT 33's,a wcrc one and the Swanage one ?. Empties from Southall.

One thing you hardly ever see is WCR route learners, especially down here in Sussex. How do WCR do all these excursions and while dB and GBRf route learners are pretty frequent, WCR route learner light engine runs are nonexistent?

Obviously it's unlikely the tour will go into the new aggregate terminal, it's not particularly big and there's a gate at the start of it. But it must have been years since WCR drivers last went into marine,

I suppose they just 'hitch a ride' with a passenger train from time to time?

Empties from Southall.
If the empties are coming from Southall, surely that means it will be West Coast locos and stock.....maybe a 33 at one end and a 47/57 at the other? I don't know whether it's still the case, but twenty-odd years ago West Coast drivers were using videos for road learning.

I would have thought that it would be West Coast locos and stock if the empties do come from Southall. I would think it would be open for booking by the end of the month,we will see then.

Sounds like it could be for an interesting tour, assuming it runs.

Something for me to keep an eye out when details are released, now only if I could remember the way to reach Eastleigh station from the M3

i keep meaning to go on a tour of some sort, ones down this way usually start from eastleigh but most around 6.30 or so am, would be fine if there was a cheap hotel or something near the station but the one opposite was £100 a night when i last looked :rolleyes:

ill keep an eye on this tour anyway
shame as the bsl tour from london to waymouth with 73s and a 4tc got cancelled last year or so and hasnt been re instated

Perhaps they knew there was a railtour, and demand would be high. Travelodge can be expensive - try booking one anywhere near Silverstone when a Formula One Grand Prix is scheduled there.

yes i was a bit surprised but thats life i suppose, its a bit of a tricky one as to booking in advance as going on a railtour can be a last minute decision

if the tour details/times are out a couple of months before with the type of locos. You should be ok.

i meant from my point of view, choosing to actually go on it can be a last minute decision, only a few days before the tour, so booking somewhere in advance isnt always possible :)

It doesn't. Just thinking along those lines.
Riviera Trains keep a set of Mk1's in Eastleigh Works. Would it not make sense to use those?? I just love how people put 2+2 together and come up with so many scenarios totalling 5 and above.

Those coaches have been moved to Burton on Trent and are no longer kept at Eastleigh.

However, I do agree that there isn't much purpose to speculation at present, with hopefully details emerging with the publication of Branch Line News shortly whenever they are ready. (I think it is now convention that tour details are published concurrently with the release of that publication.)

yes those 16 coaches were moved during the week,so can't be that stock. We will wait and see where the Loco and stock comes from.

Didn't know that! Every days a school day.

Of course, no reason the BLS couldn't use a unit I guess - devil's advocate time.

That Eastleigh Travelodge can be expensive most Friday/Saturday nights, without a railtour running.

Add on extra bookings (hopefully people being sensible with the flex rates) from a railtour (because it is the ideal location for Eastleigh station) and prices will increase.

They can move 10 of them back to Eastleigh for the tour. Operators have run far longer ECS moves for tours in the past. I've got no idea who is running it, or where the stock will be coming from though.
