Although if the doors are unlocked it is always illuminated on the Driving vehicles.

Interesting! And do we have a reason for that apparent total randomness?! :D Are the cab doors interlocked, out of curiosity?

The Turbostar wiring can be different from subclasses. The only beeping noise in the cab I can think off is a CACU/PA handset is off it's cradle somewhere on the train. Never really had any issues with doors that can't be solved without recycling the door controls or tripping out Door Control and Door Supply MCBs and trying again.

I have always found those MCBs to be mercilessly unhelpful!

There is no “off the cradle” noise on some variants, mainly those with some sort of dark and mysterious variant of coach-specific wiring, which means the phone off the hook only affects that coach... on those, all you get by way of a beep reminder is for certain types of passenger alarms.

I don't know the reason (although with the autpclose feature if one middle car has got a door detection problem or had a passcomm pulled it does mean you can spot it early whilst still sat in the station); it's a pain though because you can't verify that the doors have released on that vehicle until (if, rather that when) someone wanders down to say there's a problem.

The cab doors on a Voyager aren't interlocked with either power or brake but are detected as either open or closed and the train will flag up a level 2 fault if not proved shut. I don't off the top of my head know if it's recorded on the OTMR, I'd have to check.
