Looks like you were a bit excited there! Good capture - I think they look great and I hope there will be more to follow. Having had a lifelong interest in astronomy too, it's great to see the nameplates have the constellation patterns on them too.

Yup  I heard the "yinging" then saw the 66, then I noticed it was dragging something, as soon as I saw it was the fresh out of LM 86/7`s I went "oh my god" and legged it looking like a right nutter, oh well worth it

Gutted I missed these today owing to the outrageous early running. Also nice to see Andy M fotting them (right hand side of your 86702 departing shot!)...

Oh well, I'll get em when they go out testing with a bit of luck ;)

Not the only one thinking that!

Not a fan of the thread title either. One can hardly call them "BRAND NEW" to quote the title!

As for the livery, not a big fan but it could be worse.

Just before I start I must warn you that I mean no offense but I am a pure class 86 ned through and through so please no offense.

The whole over 40 years old must be a good thing considering they are still being refurbed and reused unlike many other classes of the same age at this rate they will be 50 and still working for Freightliner etc which is damn good :D

But I wouldn't say it's just abit of paint considering they can now do there true speed of 110mph and they have had extensive electrical refurbishment.
Although I'm wondering why they still have their cruddy cabs (seriously go in one and you will all either faint of choke on dust).

Anyway rant over :D
