Would love to go for it but I'm on the other side of London and I don't know whether or not the missus would want to move that far

Ah dammit, if I still lived back home in essex I'd totally have gone for this. What are c2c like as a company? Anyone know?

Application submitted, although it'll be another lottery as to how long or if I get a response. The end of the submission was somewhat vague in that respect, but I suppose it's wait and see time again....

Given the usual buzz of excitement that normally accompanies a new advert for trainee drivers I'm surprised that this hasn't created more interest, especially as C2C are one of the few TOC's that see the depot driver role as a stepping stone toward mainline driving (for those that wish to pursue that direction)
Plus they are a small close knit company, operate relatively new traction and pay pretty well.

I agree...it's quiet eerie how quiet this thread is. Considering every other job thread is like a cattle market within a few minutes. Not complaining though. :D

not to dampen anyones spirits, but I've heard its a long wait to become mainline, but also C2C is meant to be a good company to work for, and depot driving is a good job =)

I'm definitely going to give it a go! Would be awesome working 5 minutes away from my house.

Although I foresee a slight issue if they ask why I want to switch from working in IT in the City to train depot driving.

Hi

Does anyone how long you'd usually have to work as a depot driver before doing full training, especially at c2c if they see it as a stepping stone? Maybe you short-cut part of the application process next time they are taking on new drivers?

I'm new to the forum and looking into a career change into train driving, so keen to explore lots of different options.

Thanks!

The only way to become a mainline driver with C2C is to first be a depot driver. Depot Driver is a good job and you know what you are aiming towards, just know before you apply that you aren't going to be zipping up and down the mainline straight out of the school, so if thats what's important to you, my advice would be to look elsewhere for train driver jobs. Its a question of whether you want to learn more about the railway as a whole, about the trains and everything else before you go mainline, I would recommend it =)

Yes, don't mention you're fed up relying on c2c to get you to work!

[Actually, I commute daily to Fen St and it's generally fine; what problems there are are usually NR's cabling or some idiots trespassing or driving into level crossings.]

Has anyone had any previous experience with c2c? I remember that advertised for the same position several months ago.

I received a invitation to the Stage 1 Assessment for this role. Does anyone have any advice?

Well, got the invite for Stage 1. Skim read the download information far too quickly and nearly coughed my spleen when I saw the number of tests.....before re-reading the email where it states there are only 4 tests for this stage.

Calmed down after a while, but looking forward to the 30th. Day after my birthday too, so that'll be a fairly quiet affair. :p

Well, our postman seems to roll a set of dice each day to decide what time he's delivering. I'll give it a little while longer then send a quick email to c2c. Not sure I'd get hold of anyone on a Saturday, but worth a shot.

Having said that, I couldn't believe the confirmation got sent on a Sunday! Dedication. :)

Good luck to you too and i'll see you there.
