Hello there. I know there's a Cardiff Bus loss thread but not sure if there's a dedicated thread on Cardiff Bus itself.

From looking at 'BUSES' magazines since June 2009, I understand / believe Cardiff Bus have at least MMC's (E200 and E400 types), Mercedes-Benz Citaros and I guess 06-plate Scania Omnicity bendybuses. I'm not sure about mini-pointer Darts though.

I may end up catching a 92, 93 or 94 on the 14/08/19 from near Penarth train station back into Cardiff (I understand that the 'Trip planning and reports' thread is probably the best thread for asking this sort of question). What vehicles are normally on the 92, 93 or 94?

Thanks people. I don't mind what type - just curious to know. I'm thinking about catching one of the 06-reg Scania Omnicity bendybuses instead. I'll see what mood I'm in nearer the time.

I've got a few friends that are bus drivers at CB and I can tell you it's a welcome decision; I've heard she's not the greatest of MDs!

As a driver there (hopefully not for much longer) as well I couldn't possibly comment on your assertion about the MD ;)

Cardiff Bus used to be great in the 80s.
I knew loads of drivers back then when my uncle was an inspector.
Plenty of lovely Bristol VR's to bash and the City Cicle with the JBO Nationals.

My parents still live in Cardiff, and on my recent trips,it hasn't gone un-noticed how some service levels have deteriorated over the years.

As for competition,Cardiff did well to stave off other operators from competing for quite a long time.
St David's Travel had a go and failed.
Now theres NAT Group!
Ha,I remember CK Coaches way back!
Anyone remember them?

Cardiff Bus have today confirmed the order for 36 Yutong E12s which will be delivered in their new brand livery. This is on top of the 12 ex Isle of Man Citaros that have been acquired and are undergoing repaint and refurbishment into the new livery.

I understand the blue on these will be the route branding for the 8/9 service with replacement buses for the 17/18 supposed to have red front ends and green for the Yutongs intended for the 27.

I used to drive those for a living and they're decent steers to be honest, so I reckon they'll give Cardiff Bus decent service. It's nice to see them in an actual livery (and a nice one, IMV) as well instead of the insipid dealer silver.

For those interested/wondering, KMN-205/206/207/208/209/211-L, KMN-216/217/220/221/223-U and LMN-231-M (ex KMN-212-L) are those which were acquired.

Using ex Lothian V524ESC (on hire from Reading).

Also, the IoM Citaros are gaining CX prefix North Wales plates.

Is there any truth in the artics being withdrawn this year, please?

2 sold to an operator in Portsmouth (two of 601-603, not sure which) and apparently the rest due to be replaced by double decks by the end of the year for service 17/18. Think that's regaining it's red front branding that it used to have as well as part of this.

Much appreciated, pleased to hear more 'deckers are on the cards.

Has anyone got confirmation for which operator in Portsmouth these are departing for?

Thank you in advance.

Also - 605 has gone for scrap and Connexxions bus of Harrogate have bought an artic - not sure which one.

Arrived this week are full length (6 cylinder) E200 MMCs YX21RVJ/K/L/M for medium term hire until the new electric buses arrive.

They'll have fleet numbers 271-274 and presumably replace the last four Transbus E300s still in service (out of 701-6 and 711-716).

Not my photo - link to flickr above, but 602 has now appeared with Harrogate Coach Travel / Connexions.

They're 10.8m 4 cylinder examples.

On long term loan (until at least early next year apparently) are 5 Scania / Wright Solar K94UB and K230UBs from Thamesdown. Also purchased is a Scania Omnicity from Reading Buses - not 100% sure wh ich but I think it's YN56FBK.

Thamesdown ceased to exist several years ago. I assume you mean Go South Coast.

The 5 buses on loan from Go South Coast at Swindon are: WX06JXS/T/JYA, WX57TLU/Y. Two are in Thamesdown livery, three in the Swindon's Bus Company livery.

Reading Buses former fleet number 4 (YN56FBK) has been acquired.

Have to admit thought the Scanias from SBC wasn't going to see life again after the MMCs from BlueStar arrived.
504 and 505 have been working front line routes until the children broke up. 505 even had an outing to Salisbury to cover a breakdown. Great couple of buses. 509 has been withdrawn for a couple of months. 511 and 512 have been away from Swindon covering Salisbury/Poole so am unsure of what state they are in.
