I realise that it is very early yet but what kind of prices am I likely to see for 4 adults return on a Saturday (out 7ish from CHD, back 20ish from London) in early July?

Also, are there are splits which make the journey cheaper.

Thanks, Andy S:)

If you are flexible enough, you can do it for less than £20 each way on megatrain.

Advances start form £15 per person each way and that doesn't include Railcard discounts, although the lowest tier is not always sold on Saturdays but you might get them if you get in quick.

Splits might work if you are willing to change at Leicester onto the slow train.

The cheapest Advance tickets on the direct route are £15 each way (these tie you to a particular train).

For a split you could travel via Burton-on-Trent: buy a Derbyshire Wayfarer for £11.10 plus a Burton - London "London Midland Only" Super Offpeak Return for £24 (total £35.10), but this would increase the journey time considerably.
