The best thing about Alice is that train out of there or the plane! It really is a backwards place with nowt to do unless you like hunting, shooting .... fishing ( in the bars) and BBQ'ing. Ayres Rock about 2 hours drive away otherwise its wait for the Darwin freights to roll through once a week.

Oh The Alice is not quite that bad. Great place to watch the heavens, listen to the arguments of our indigenous brothers and err.... well okay maybe it is. But what is this Ayres Rock of which you speak? Never heard of it. Perhaps you mean Uluru which used to be called Ayers Rock. It never ceases to amaze me that Uluru is associated with Alice Springs even though it is 450 kilometres or so from the Alice by road (about a four and a half hour drive).
