I am looking for guidance about where I can source information about locations that may be affected by engineering works this coming Christmas. I am particularly interested in the WCML.

Thanks in anticipation.

Not sure where all the information is in one spot but perhaps people contributing to this thread can add in some known ones. I will start - Preston - Blackpool North and South total blockade remodeling Kirkham and Wesham Station and Blackpool north and resignalling the lot and transferring to Ashburys ROC and doing electrification works.

West Mids is curtailed massively due to New St resignalling. Euston isnt a full station closure as far as I know.

It ought to be a relatively quiet time for works on the main line with no major projects on the go, but the practice is usually to slip in something big (bridge replacement etc), especially north of Preston, with endless bustitution to Glasgow/Edinburgh.
But we live in hope.

Chiltern is going to be popular if New St is closed.

I'd expect the ECML to be kept clear with works on the WCML for the next couple of years, as 2019 and 2020 are scheduled in for closures in the Huntingdon area- 2019 to install the new A14 bridge just north of Offord Cluny, 2020 for demolition of the existing A14 at Huntingdon

New St isn't, just most of it between there and Wolves and Walsall.

There'll be the crossing the T's and dotting the I's of the final Thameslink Programme blockade at London Bridge for comissioning of the final layout.

Yes St Pancras station is closed for refurbishment i think trains are either terminating at Kentish Town or West Hampstead.

One would hope that provisions have been put in place to ensure that the Finsbury Park fiasco does not repeat itself.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Liverpool Street closed again for Christmas 2017 as per Christmas 2016 for Crossrail works.

Euston will be closed between December 25th 2017 and December 31st 2027.

Apologies for any inconvenience.
Does anyone know if there'll be trains on the WCML, perhaps terminating near London - close enough, perhaps Watford Junction, to picking up one of the local trains, like those that run through to Clapham? I have tickets for Hamilton (damn it!!) during that close down, and this is going to kill my nice, relaxing day trip to London stone dead!
