Can anybody help in diagnosing a problem I have with the 158? I have no AWS sounds when using the train, although the files are there in the train folder and are working (via WMP). Been stopped by the TPWS no end of times on NWM!

TIA :help:

Couple of questions:

1) Are you sure you have the BVE4 Class 158?
2) Which route are you using on NWM?

:)

I've had a quick go on Network West Midlands (Not Maybank) and the AWS on the 158 works on both Rain and non-rain routes.

The only reasons I can think of for it not to be working are;

- Your not using the latest version of BVE4 (v4.2)
- You have pressed the Isolate Safety Systems Switch on the 158 during the simulation (Page Up/down)
- The Class 158 AWS Files have been altered

Try the 158 on another route and see if the AWS works then. :)

To stop getting stopped by the TPWS it might help if you stick to speed limits and went over the AWS magnet at red signals at at least 15mph.

Could it be a problem with the uk_sprinter.DLL? I think it's linked into the TPWS and AWS some way.

That's not really the issue: it's when the AWS warns of a signal at danger and I don't hear it so I don't cancel the warning. This then triggers the TPWS.

Do You have your speakers turned on? :P

Helpful suggestion but as I indicated above, I can hear all the other sounds fine!

Nah, as he said "Been stopped by the TPWS no end of times on NWM!"

Correct, TPWS is not turned off, otherwise I couldn't be stopped by it!

:tongue3:

Is that part of the Cl158 train file or elsewhere. I did try a fresh download and reinstalling but with no success.

Just off to try the 158 using Route Randomizer.

I'll be back...

Try Pressing Up (To put the train into Forward) then press back (To put the train back into Neutral). The AWS should sound after a couple of seconds. Cancel it by pressing "Insert".

It's a standard proceedure in all UK trains so you might be starting the train straight away by pressing the "2 Key" without doing the AWS test. :)

Sorry to be boring, and thanks for the suggestion, but I always start the train in the way you describe (Pressing Up (To put the train into Forward) then press back (To put the train back into Neutral)). I get the sunflower working but, again, no AWS sounds with the 158. Every other train is fine...

Does the 158 AWS work on any other route.

(Can't check back in the thread as internet has gone dodgy!!)

No it doesn't - tried it on Birmingham X City earlier and got every sound EXCEPT AWS!

And I also mentioned that I've tried a fresh download & install with no success...

Don't know what else it could be.

All I can suggest now is a re-install of BVE4. Worked for me when I couldn't get Door Interlock lights working.

Does the AWS sound work for other trains such as the class 323, class 66 etc...

If it does, try and copy the sound files over to the class 158 folder. Dunno if this will help at all, but its worth a try.

I think you might be correct ;)

Just to check, the sound files you need for AWS are:

Code:
158_aws_bingling.wav    119K     11/12/2005
AWS.wav                  21K     21/02/2005
aws_bing.wav            119K     11/12/2005
(Guess which ones are John's rerecorded super-duper sounds eh :D)

The sound.cfg file should contain the section:

Code:
[Ats]
0 = Aws_bing.wav
1 = 158_aws_bingling.wav
2 = Aws.wav
...

Yes, all present and correct.

The sound.cfg file should contain the section:

Code:
[Ats]
0 = Aws_bing.wav
1 = 158_aws_bingling.wav
2 = Aws.wav
...

Again, that appears to be present. Here's the full file:

Code:
Version 1.0

[Run]
0 = Run0.wav
1 = Run1.wav
2 = Run2.wav
3 = Run3.wav
4 = Run4.wav
5 = Run5.wav
6 = Run6.wav
7 = Run7.wav

[Flange]
0 = Flange0.wav

[Motor]
0 = Motor0.wav
2 = Motor2.wav
5 = Motor5.wav
6 = Motor6.wav

[Switch]
0 = Point.wav

[Ats]
0 = Aws_bing.wav
1 = 158_aws_bingling.wav
2 = Aws.wav
3 = Eb.wav
4 = Buzzer.wav
5 = DrawFwd.wav
6 = SetBack.wav
7 = starterOn_lf.wav
8 = starterLoop.wav
9 = starterFade.wav
10 = engineFire.wav
11 = engineStall.wav
12 = loop.wav
13 = revvingup.wav
14 = revvingdown.wav
15 = engineStop.wav
16 = switchwiper.wav
17 = wetwipe.wav
18 = dryWipe.WAV
19 = raindrop.wav
20 = raindrop2.wav
21 = raindrop3.wav
22 = raindrop4.wav
22 = raindrop2.wav
24 = switch.wav

[Brake]
BC Release Full = AirZero.wav
Emergency = b_p.wav

[Brake Handle]
Min = b_m.wav
apply = b_p.wav
Release = b_m.wav
Max = b_p.wav

[Master Controller]
Max = p_m.wav
Min = p_e.wav
Up =  p_e.wav
Down = p_m.wav

[Reverser]
On = RevFwd.wav
Off = RevN.wav

[Compressor]
Release = CpEnd.wav

[Door]
Open Left = DoorOpn.wav
Open Right = DoorOpn.wav
Close Left = DoorCls.wav
Close Right = DoorCls.wav

[Horn]
Primary = Klaxon0.wav
Secondary = Klaxon1.wav
music = Klaxon2.wav

[Suspension]
left = springl.wav
right = springr.wav

[Pilot Lamp]
On = leave.wav

It's a mystery...

:pale:
[EDIT]
Well, there's a thing. I've copied over the 323 AWS files to the 158 train folder and now have working AWS sounds! Thanks EmergencyBrake - although not authentic sounds, I'm now managing to avoid TPWS delays! :toothy7:

Thanks for all your help folks.
